Test Driver Ratings & Comments

Acceleration commentsThe Boxster's Tiptronic transmission upshifts at 7,000 rpm in auto or manual mode. It will hold a gear until redline, when the trans shifts whether you want it to or not. The car will not break the tires loose on launch, even if you brake torque it with the traction control turned off. Upshifts are crisp, and the shift buttons on the steering wheel are easy to use. Power and torque are both adequate but not overly exciting.
Braking ratingExcellent
Braking commentsUnbelievable. The Boxster showed no sign of fade, even after several hard braking runs in a row. We detected the slightest hint of ABS vibration in the pedal, but no noise to speak of. Nose dive was minimal, and the car tracked straight. Pedal feel is firm and easy to modulate. Sixty-to-0 stopping distances in the low 100s are excellent, especially after repeated runs. The Boxster's brakes are confidence inspiring.
Handling ratingNo Data
Handling commentsDue to unforseen circumstances at the track we were unable to test the Boxster in the slalom.
