More about the 2017 Nissan 370Z

Remaining largely unchanged over the years, the 2017 Nissan 370Z is still a great purpose-built sports car. If you're looking for a car that focuses on precision driving, the 370Z should certainly be on your list.

Thanks to its light curb weight and relatively small overall size, the 2017 Nissan 370Z is a great performer and gives drivers great confidence around their favorite curvy roads. Nissan's focus on performance, however, seems to have compromised other features that drivers might care about, such as comfort and convenience.

The 2017 370Z is at a competitive disadvantage because it hasn't had a major overhaul since 2009. Interior space falls short and the base model lacks many features you would expect to find standard these days. Other vehicles in this class now match performance without sacrificing comfort. They also come with more modern technology.

Nevertheless, there's the 2017 370Z's performance, which is impressive. A 3.7-liter V6 engine generates 332 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. A manual transmission comes standard on all models. Or you can choose to equip your 370Z with a seven-speed automatic transmission with manual-shift capability (through steering-wheel-mounted paddles) and downshift rev-matching. The Sport, Sport Tech and Touring Sport roadsters all come with SynchroRev Match, which is a driver-selectable option that provides a throttle-blip on every downshift to execute smoother gear changes.

The 2017 370Z has fuel efficiency that's comparable to other cars in its class with similar powertrains. The EPA estimates fuel economy at 22 mpg combined (19 mpg city/26 mpg highway) for the automatic and 21 mpg combined (18 city/26 highway) with the manual transmission. The Roadster (a soft-top convertible model) has fuel economy that's a bit worse, but not by much, checking in at 21 mpg combined (18 city/25 highway) on the automatic transmission and 20 mpg combined (17 city/24 highway) on the manual.

Nissan provides many trim levels to match your preference of performance, comfort or both. Choose from base, Sport, Touring, Sport Tech, Nismo and Nismo tech trims. The convertible Roadster can be had in base, Touring and Touring Sport trims.

The Sport trim provides performance upgrades, while the Touring trim adds creature comforts and convenience-based features. The Sport Tech coupe is a combination of the Sport and Touring trims, save for a few features.

The Touring Sport Roadster has most of the same features as the Sport Tech coupe, minus the front-chin and rear-deck spoilers. The 370Z Nismo includes a stronger version of the standard V6 as well as performance and visual upgrades in and around the coupe. The Nismo Tech trim adds upgraded electronics, including a 7-inch touchscreen interface with navigation.

The 2017 Nissan 370Z is a great purpose-built sport performer and is certainly worth checking out for yourself. Let Edmunds help you find the 370Z to fit your needs.
