Handling OK needs slight improvement
Drove car at 120+mph for a time while going through Montana and although it hugged the road in a straight line beautifully the front end seemed to loosen in the corners. Needs to be tightened up a bit to give the driver a better sense of grip to the road.
Great car
I love my LS430. The only thing I would caution 'would be buyers' about is that the darker colored cars show scratches more than the lighter colored ones. I really baby this car but have noticed a few scratches (and yes I'm overly sensitive) on mine (color - Flint Mica).

My LS430
The car is simply the best car I have ever had. It is impecably built. It is impecably designed. I is just a flawless automobile. I love it.
QUALITY ABOVE ALL OTHERS
THIS IS MY 8TH LEXUS.....THAT SHOULD SPEAK FOR ITSELF. I HAVED JUST ABOUT EVERY CAR THEY MAKE......THIS TRULY THE ONE TO STAY WITH.
As close to perfection as it gets
Having owned Mercedes and BMW, I know the competition. And the LS 430 Ultra Luxury I have the privilege to own beats anything under $130K. Uncanny combination of smooth ride and controlled handling. Quality of materials and workmanship second to none. Excellent outward visibility (the main downfall of the Audi A8). Tight turning radius (better than any of its competitors). Outstanding gas mileage for its considerable size and weight (27 mpg on the highway). Large trunk even with rear air conditioner. Doors open wide for passengers. Adaptive self-leveling HID headlights are amazing. LED taillights fast and bright. Stereo is like being there.
2004 ls430
this is my ninth lexus there isnt a better car out there I currently have a 2004 is 300 2004 ls430 and 2004 gx470 I owned a mercedes in 2003 my first one and never again they dont even come close to lexus quality and lexus service
A look at the Lexus 430
Other than the low mileage even though I am a regular complainer, I was not able to find any bad to say about the Lexus 430 or Meade Lexus my dealer where I always find a cheerful, respectful, and knowledgeable person to deal with.
LS430
Best, imo, of any car under $100k. Superb in quality, handling (at 100mph rides/handles like 55 on new pavement), and reliability, except for two items that a dealer in North California refuses to deal with.
Quality Without Compromise!
The car is so quiet, your ears feel like they're plugged! You think the engine has died, until you look at the tach! I hit the gas hard while getting on the freeway yesterday and was over 80MPH in just a few seconds. The GPS Navigation/Mark Levinson Audio package is first class!
Excellent
I am totally happy with this car. I will no doubt buy another when the time comes to trading in.
Car King
I caught a Porsche! A BMW 745iL! S500! Forget about Caddies and Stupid American Cars! It ride super smoothly, I can't believe it's a car! Like you're cruising through a lake! It just consumes only 22 mpg however an S320 consumes like 20 to 22! My only little objection is if you could change the rear light style to a more sporty one. By the way, my girlfriend's S600 with its V12 engine is worth about 65,000 GBP; why should we pay 28,000 GBP to get the Lexus tunning package of 590 BHP? And why should we have to pay 9,000 GBP for an AWD car!? Have you ever thought that its almost 7,000 GBP more expensive than the S600!? Come on men!
LS430
I owned the ES300 before purchasing the LS430. I loved my Es so much that I moved up to the 430. It is a wonderful car, lots of leg room, very comfortable and is a joy to own. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one once needed. I've owned a lot of cars, but the Lexus is certainly the car to own.
Best car i've ever had
Best car i've had and i've had an Mercedes-Benz E320 and a Bmw 540i but they can'y compare to my lexus .
If u just care about Reliability
this car beats Mercedes and BMW by far when it comes to reliability...it goes for ever if u deal it good ..I know a guy who has a 1991 LS400...he had 1,000,000 kms on it!!!!...and it is still working fine...however, I have to say that BMW is more fun to drive and Mercedes is still more integrated...but all in all...it is a 9/10 car...
honest opinion
alot of car, great pick up,great suspension, best ride I every had. interior amendities and comfort.
GreatValu
This is my 3rd LS and, in 10yrs & 150K miles, I've had only one repair incident (pinch-control on sun roof.) Great car, great value.
Great Highway Car
Drove this new car 8500 miles around the Western USA, all sorts of terrains, it performed wonderfully. Best car I've ever owned. handles well on highway.
the best
Simply put, this is the best car i have ever owned or driven in. I have had it for a year and never had a problem. The ride is so smooth that it still feels like the car is not turned on. There is not another car on the rode that offers the smoothness and comfort along with enough power to handle my needs. I wouldn't change a thing in this car for right now.
Perfection
The perfect car. Drives like a dream. No problems with it..

Best Car for the Money!!
I traded in a '99 LS 400 which I have been driving for past 6 years. The '04 LS 430 is a big improvement. Dealer Certified Car so am set for another 6 or 7 years. Looks and performs just like a brand new car even with 34,000 miles. A true luxury automobile.
ls430
I had my LS430 for 14 years and never had a car like it. The most amazing ride ever. I have had Mercedes, BMw's but never enjoyed a car more than the Leus.

Miss my LS430
I ran over a tree on the road at 60mph and ruined the ride of my LS430. Sold it a couple years ago and have never missed anything more. The smoothest riding car I’ve ever been in. Personally, I’m a bit old school, and prefer the wood and leather interior in this 2004 car to anything else on the road.. not kidding. Probably not modern enough for some, but for me, it is the golden standard for quality, inside and out. Even to this day, I constantly consider selling my truck for another one. The biggest problem i had was the starter going out and costing me $900 because they have to pretty much disassemble the engine to get to it. A small price to pay for the best “modern” car ever made.

Intermittent Audio Problem
LS430 2004 has an intermittent Audio problem where even when you turn on the audio using voice command, there will be no sound. As per Lexus dealership this problem is with all LS430. I find that hard to believe but that is the story they gave me. I purchased it brand new from them last month. Lexus dealerships make a big deal about their service quality, but I have been very disappointed with my experience.
confort and reliability
the paint job is poor
I GIVE IT A #9
FOR THE MOST PART, GREAT CAR! FOR OVER $70000 FOR THE ULTRA PACKAGE I FEEL LEXUS COULD SPEND A LITTLE MORE TIME AND MONEY ON THE BODY LINES OF THE CAR...COMPERABLE CARS FOR THAT MONEY SHOW MUCH BETTER.. PREFORMANCE AND HANDLING IS WONDERFUL, AND CONFORT IS SECOND TO NONE!
LS430 w/Sport Suspension
Very few people are aware how well this sporty model compares to BMWs & M-Benz. Handling & roadholding are superb. 18" tires stay glued to the road, regardless of undulations & nothing fazes it, inspiring enormous confidence. Unlike the std. model's extra-plush ride, you know exactly what the road surface is like under you. Feedback is firm, but not harsh, making the driving experience very Lexus-like. However, you must enjoy sporty handling; if pure luxury is your thing, you probably shouldn't order this suspension. But if you want a great car that is also great fun to drive, this one is for you. Given 500hp, this would be the Best of the Best!
Good but not Great
Very close to perfect for the $$ but small items get aggrevating the more you drive the car. Should charge $300 for each NAV update and updates are too far between.
