Test Driver Ratings & Comments

Acceleration commentsThe transmission upshifts at 6,000 rpm, and power is even from idle to redline. Even in manual mode the automatic trans shifts when it wants. The 3.7 V6 is relatively refined, but it needs more power to really compete in this segment.
Braking ratingVery Good
Braking commentsWe noted minimum front end dive, almost no ABS noise and absolutely no vibration. The pedal got a little soft on the third run, but the numbers were very consistent. Overall braking performance is very good and much improved over the last model.
Handling ratingAverage
Handling commentsSteering feel and weighting are both very good, and body roll is acceptable for an SUV, but tire grip is low and it gives up with the sidewall rolling over abruptly. Also, the motor feels sluggish and doesn't pump out enough torque to accelerate hard out of the final cones.
