Test Driver Ratings & Comments

Acceleration commentsTricky clutch uptake right off the floor. Good low-end power allows some wheelspin. Third gear didn't like to be hurried. Overall, a very decent acceleration run without very much drama or protest from the engine.
Braking ratingGood
Braking comments"Good" brakes with quiet and effective ABS. Pedal feel is very good and pitch was acceptable.
Handling ratingGood
Handling commentsI can't believe I was entering the slalom at 70 mph repeatedly and confidently. The seats are terrible without side bolsters, and the steering wheel is as slicked as greased plastic, but boy does the Elantra stick! Good steering response, ample feedback and predictable rotation all add up to a very good run. On the skid pad, the Elantra was well balanced with a whiff of understeer dialed in. Overall, better than I had predicted.
