Dealership Sales Review

A nightmare experience
Written by Trying to do business on 08/19/2022

We agreed to purchase a vehicle that was in transit to the dealership months ago. They told the owner of our company it would be there in a few weeks. It didn't arrive. Then they told us it would be there in 2-3 days. 2-3 days later, they told us another 2-3 days. Then again and again for the next couple of months. I am NOT angry that the truck was late. I understand that the dealer had no control over that. I am angry that their solution was to just give us the same answer over and over again like an automaton without finding us a real answer. At this point I took over the transaction from our owner because he was so frustrated he didn't want anything more to do with it. They did the same thing to me so I walked into the dealer and requested to speak to Javier Sanchez. He's the guy who replies to all these reviews and says he wants people to call him so that he can make everything better without actually intending to do anything. He apologized for the delay but says it isn't their fault. I press him for some time and he finally admits that they don't know when the truck will finally arrive. This was the truth that I suspected, but at least I finally had an answer. Apparently the shipper lost the truck and they didn't know where it was. I tried to work with him to create something productive we could do together to locate the truck, but the only thing he had done, and the only thing he was willing to do, to find our truck was just call Ram and ask them, or ask the shipping yard, if it was in yet with no additional follow up or research. When I told him I wanted to be more aggressive, and I wanted him to be more aggressive, about finding the truck, he became combative and tried to pressure me to cancel the order. I explained to him that this was the truck our company needed and the other trucks he had to offer would not meet our needs. The only commitment I got from him was to immediately contact us as soon as he had anything new about the truck. Later that day the owners had a meeting and decided they had to buy a second truck while they waited for the one from Larry H Miller. The day after that I dropped by the dealer to talk to Javier Sanchez about the truck again because I didn't want to go down to another dealer and pay $70k for a different truck just to discover the truck we really needed had already arrived. He was even more combative and told me that he had already committed to informing me as soon as the truck was there. I told him I needed to double check before putting out yet another $70k. When he found out I was buying a different truck in addition, he tried to pressure me into cancelling again. A few days went by and the dealer got an update on the truck and it was expected in the next week. However, Javier Sanchez didn't contact me as he had committed to do. I had to find out through third parties. A couple of weeks later (late again) they finally call us to tell us the truck is there. I go in to sign the paperwork, and naturally almost everything has hidden fees and add ons. They added a bunch of accessories we didn't order, which I made them remove the charges for. The most egregious was close to $400 for "theft protection" that would have paid us a whole $5000 if the truck was stolen in the first year. Do the math on that and calculate out the implied probability that the truck would be stolen. Naturally, they took as long as possible between each document trying to get my eyes to glaze over so they could pass something by me. Then, because they know nothing about corporate structure or the legal standing of company officers, they then claimed I wasn't allowed to sign any of the paperwork. I explained all about how company officers have full legal standing for a company and show them paperwork to prove it. When I handed the paperwork to them they accused me of becoming angry and making a scene. They tried to pressure me to cancel the order again. All I did was hand them a piece of paper. Despite the proof, they made me call in one of the owners to sign all the paperwork again.
