Cutting Edge Car, Cheap Interior

I am VERY interested in purchasing one of these cars based on it's mechanical prowess. I'm a Mechanical Engineer who works on Airplanes. I'm having huge difficulties on the CHEAP hard plastic used in the dash and seats of this car. If I'm going to spend over $35K, I want something better than PLASTIC! After our test drive, we visited KIA to test drive a "hamster car HPEV". None to be found, but realized even a low rated KIA has a better interior than this car. WOW! What was GM thinking? The cheap plastic begs to receive greasy fingerprint stains resulting from normal use. Really GM? Dash pieces look like they came off a 3D printer! I think I'll wait and see if this gets fixed in the next models. I've even considered what it would take to have these ugly plastic pieces reworked by some aftermarket shop to make them acceptable.

great car, terrible dealership and keyless remote

I very much like the car overall. But the salesman, Robert Zeravica, that I had the misfortune of dealing with, lied to me, and could not have been more manipulative and hard-sell. First thing I said was that the Bolt was the car I wanted, and wanted it with the fast-charge capability. He told me the only way to buy the Bolt with the fast charger was if I got the "Premium" package, which is much more expensive. This is despite the fact that the fast charger is an OPTION that can be ordered with the LT package. The dealership, Community Chevrolet in Glendale, CA, advertised the base model at $150mo., but Zeravica pressured me into leasing a MUCH more expensive package. He gave me the shortest of test drives, only showed me two Bolt models despite the fact they had dozens of them sitting on their lot. After a few minutes he shoved some papers in front of me and said something like, "Let's get started", and for the next hour or so I kept telling him I wanted some time to check things out. He kept acting like I was wasting his time, trying to make me feel guilty. I caved to his pressure. If I had had more time I could have found out I could have bought it as an LT without all the bells and whistles and could have gotten a discount through my employment as a driver. The day after I leased the car I had the "keyless" remote hanging on a lanyard around my neck with other keys, and the remote separated from its attachment and was lost, leaving only the emergency metal key that was still attached to the lanyard around my neck. That is a MANUFACTURING DEFECT. If the remote were more securely attached to its emergency key, it could never have come loose. I have had several such remotes for other cars such as the Nissan Leaf and Toyota Prius and never had such a problem, or even heard of anyone else losing a remote due to such a DEFECT. Community wanted me to buy a new remote for something like $150. Outrageous. Community refused to replace it.----- Buy the Bolt, but not from Community, and do something to make sure you do not lose your remote. Also, the car is supposed to be designed not to allow you to lock the key inside the car, but that "failsafe" did not work as designed.

Excellent e-Ride

I used to drive a Nissan Leaf and I would always say that it was the best car that I've ever owned but the Bolt has taken that title. The car has a European sports car feel to it when you drive. Taut and feel everything ride. It's a big change from the Leaf but I like this ride.

Bolt Out of the Blue

I didn't intend to get a new car, but drove the Bolt at an environmental organization's EV fair. I was very impressed. I have so far not been disappointed overall. I wish Apple CarPlay enabled maps other than the standard Apple Maps for use on the large touchscreen. I wish the front seats were more comfortable, though I like the leather on mine. The safety features--lane warning, blind spot warning, front collision warning, backup camera and guide--are all excellent. (I should add that I have driven only a Prius Prime with similar features.) I do wish the left side of dashboard, white in my car, didn't reflect in the outside mirror so significantly. Overall it's a terrific car, one I hadn't expected of an American brand. Oh yes, I very much like the Arctic Blue Metallic exterior because it didn't cost extra as the deeper blue, the red, and the orange do.

Happy with the car accept the AC. There is no sensor inside the car. If the outside temperature outside is 65, inside the car is 80. If you set the AC at 72, it will heat the air and blow in more hot air. You just have to manipulate the AC to cool the car.
