Test Driver Ratings & Comments

Acceleration commentsDespite the transmission's manual-shift paddles, we got our best times by leaving the car in full automatic with the transmission set to "Sport" mode. Traction was a nonissue due to the all-wheel-drive system. We brake torqued the engine to only 2,000 rpm before launching -- remember, the car's max torque is available at 1,600 rpm.
Braking ratingExcellent
Braking commentsNo ABS noise or vibration detected. Fade was not an issue, with all three panic stops ending within one foot of each other.
Handling ratingExcellent
Handling commentsStability control was on during slalom testing because it can't be disabled, but the car's respectable balance and high grip from the all-wheel-drive system still allowed the 5,300-pound coupe to slither through the slalom at over 65 mph. Skid pad testing also showed the Continental GT to be very balanced at the limit of adhesion.
