Toyota Camry Hybrid Wins Edmunds' Inside Line Hybrid Sedan Comparison Test
SANTA MONICA, Calif. — July 24, 2007 — Inside Line, Edmunds.com's high-speed online car magazine, today announced that the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid won the latest comparison test of hybrid sedans, which is described in full at 2007 Hybrid Sedan Comparison Test.
The Inside Line editorial team recently compared three hybrid sedans: the 2007 Nissan Altima Hybrid, the 2007 Saturn Aura Green Line Hybrid and the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The 2007 Nissan Altima Hybrid (MSRP $30,535) , which generates a net output of 198-horsepower and has a continuously variable transmission; the 2007 Saturn Aura Green Line Hybrid (MSRP $23,070) , which generates a net output of 169-horsepower and has a four-speed automatic transmission; and the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid (MSRP $30, 667) , which generates a net output of 187-horsepower and has a continuously variable transmission.
"It's the Camry's abundant features, comfortable ride and fuel-sipping efficiency that takes it to the top of the podium in this test," reports Edmunds' Inside Line Senior Road Test Editor Josh Jacquot. "The simple fact about the Camry Hybrid is that, like the standard Camry, you get a lot of car for your money."
The 2007 Nissan Altima Hybrid came in second and was praised for its steering and responsive chassis. Edmunds.com consumer advice editor Philip Reed, who offered a second opinion, says, "The Nissan Altima Hybrid has basically flown below the radar. If you drive it right the Altima can get 37 miles per gallon in urban driving. To achieve that in a car that is roomy and has a pleasing amount of power is amazing...the Altima was my top pick of the three hybrids."
The 2007 Saturn Aura Green Line Hybrid took third place and impressed our editorial team with its newly redesigned interior.
