Edmunds.com Teaches Money-Saving Auto Maintenance Tips to Consumers Via Video

SANTA MONICA, CA - May 31, 2001 - As gas prices increase, drivers are looking for ways to save money on routine car maintenance. Edmunds.com, the Web's leading consumer resource for unbiased automotive information, is responding with a series of online videos teaching consumers how to detail their vehicles, change oil, replace headlights, conduct their own maintenance inspection, and perform other expensive but relatively easy automotive services.

These 90-second instructional videos are just a few of the 100 segments available at no charge at http://www.edmunds.com/video/?id=lin9042t. Video topics include road tests, auto show previews, features such as "High-tech Car Toys," how-to's including money-saving tips on service and maintenance, and educational videos such as "Understanding Car Audio Systems." The videos are offered in both Windows Media Player and RealPlayer formats.

Since the launch of the video initiatives in January, Edmunds video library has grown at a rate of approximately 25 new videos per month, with the expectation that Edmunds will have over 300 by January 2002. Edmunds was one of the first to offer footage from major auto shows around the globe, including the Geneva Motor Show, where carefully edited footage was made available to consumers within hours of new product introductions by the automotive manufacturers.

"Sometimes, you have to see something in action to really understand it. Streaming video offers a great opportunity to provide educational, enjoyable information," said Glenn McClanan, Director of Broadband Initiatives for Edmunds.com. "According to projections within the broadband industry, we can expect that approximately 750,000 video viewings will occur each month by January 2002."
