My 2012 Impreza CVT hatchback gets between 22 and 25 MPG with just over 10,000 miles on the car to date. This is the first car I've owned that the actual gas mileage for my standard country and highway driving is less than the city MPG rating. If this was the advertised rating it would not have even made it to my final list. It seems kind of coincidental that it ... Read More
My daughter ordered a Limited Impreza on the first day the 2013 were open online in mid August. I see Subaru is bragging about such high sales in August but since hardly any 2012 left to pick from these sales figures have to be for ordered 2013 models that only have a deposit on them. These sales could easily unwind. Why does the press publish these phoney sales numbers? At the ... Read More

Will a 2011 Subaru Impreza hatchback hold a fully assembled bicycle (don't have to take off the front wheel)? By the way, I KNOW how to take off the front wheel. I don't want to have to take off the front wheel!
Well, it wouldn't matter in the Forester up to the 2011 model year only. It was the first Subaru model to receive an FB-series block, with the oil filter mounted on the top of the engine. So, for current Foresters, the drainback issue would be as pertinent as it is with the 2012 Impreza.
My 2011 Subaru Impreza 2.5i sat idle for one day. When I went to drive it, the remote did not unlock the door. The security light on the dash was not lit. When I put the key in the ignition, the motor did not start, no noise, no lights on dash. When a meter was put on the battery, it registered 14.22. When the car battery was jumped by tow truck ... Marketing? I agreed, the typical consumer has no idea. I did a lot of research on this vehicle but didn't check the tires. Can I get a second set of tires and spend another $500? I shouldn't. When this page came up there was an ad from Subaru touting a $169/month lease special on the 2012 Impreza. Wow, looks great! :D Except the picture was of the 2011 Impreza. :(
I think we already covered that topic in detail before... more ratios doesn't necessarily mean better FE or lower revs at highway speeds. Sometimes, it just means more ratios. Considering how conservative Subaru is at introducing new technology, I was surprised that the 2012 Impreza received both a new engine and a new CVT in the same model year. So, thinking we would get new engines and two new transmissions simultaneously ... Read More

We're looking at either hatchbacks or sedans (basically whatever is available!) with an approximate MSRP of $21K. Essentially ... Read More
I must confess - I've never posted to this forum before, but I've been lurking for quite some time - our present (11-year-old) car is basically on its last legs, and we're going to be in desparate need of a new one relatively soon. Our number one requirement is a sedan (ideally) with AWD, and we're not looking to get anything super-crazy...not looking to spend an absolute fortune, it seems that ... Read More

@xwesx Firstly, thank you for your input.
