Hi- My 2012 forester 2.5x with pzev. We have driven it for 5000 miles so far. On 3 different occasions we have had the check engine, traction control (solid) and cruise light (flashing)come on at the same time. We took it and had the codes run on the computer-it was listing misfires on the 1st and 2nd... with a permanent code on the 2nd. The dealership took a look at the ... Read More

Everyone calls themselves premium. Heck, Suzuki pitches the Kizashi as a luxury performance sedan. Seriously. It doesn't even offer a V6 or a turbo. It can meet that 2400# requirement someone just asked about, but the 4 banger Mitsu cannot. The V6 can, but again, this is a split decision. The slalom was impressive but was that pre-production? Lowered? Summer tires? Let's see full road test from ... Read More
Seems like this might not apply to the 2008 Forester. At least mysubaru doesn't mention it for mine (yet...) I still need to take mine in for the 11-89-08 TSB reflash related to revving. Is there anything special the car wants when it is in "learning" mode after an ECU reflash? More highway miles, the regular stop-n-go mix, or ?
Sure enough; that was the letter.
Wifey got that same letter, in a non-PZEV state, so you'll get it soon, I bet. We'll do ours at the next oil change.
>> Too bad Mitsu doesn't offer a manual tranny here. Why, “too bad”? You did not even buy manual Forester? I can’t imagine you would be buying manual Outlander. >> I'd like to see Mitsu sell a Ralliart sportback - is that combination offered? Not to my knowledge, but Mitsu will be offering a smaller SUV 1.8L turbo combined with Mitsubishi's Twin Clutch SST gearbox and an AWD system. http://blogs.thecarconnection.com/marty-blog/1037414_mitsubishi-previews-new-com- - ... Thanks, Bill. Your post prompted me to go check my mail (which I do about once a week), and I, too, had a notice of some kind (have not opened it) in there. I am not sure why they did not just email me....
All states -- Got my notice in the mail today - -WV a non PZEV required state. Bill
I wonder why I have not received anything. Perhaps they are sending it to folks in PZEV-required states only?
Got mine saturday and have made the appointment. It has to have a 'puter software download performed to make the boo boo better.
I have not yet received the message, but I will keep a lookout for it. I have to take the car in to address a couple door rattles anyway, so we can make a day of it. ;)
Only applies to PZEV, viz" "Service Program WVM-23 (2006 - 2009 Legacy / Outback or 2008 - 2010 Forester 2.5L with PZEV) " bill
have not had any email yet wrt the cat converter. Mine's '09 XT.
I got the same email-- Doesn't sound urgent... Any ideas on what the reprogramming will consist of? I think I'll wait until I know more about it. Hopefully including input from this forum. Bill
Just got this email from Subaru: During a quality review, we discovered that under certain severe driving patterns, such as high speed highway/uphill driving and/or accelerating with high engine revolutions, the efficiency of your vehicle’s catalytic converter may begin to degrade beyond design parameters. (The “Check Engine” light will illuminate to alert you if the catalytic converter efficiency has degraded beyond an acceptable level and if your vehicle may be releasing ... Read More
>> The first thing that struck me was how similar the body shape of the Outlander is to the Forester and the Outlander. I wonder whether the designers were the same. I wonder myself. Even steering wheels look like twins. >> Firstly, I'm not interested in the turbo Forester XT. Despite a lot of people on the Forester forums saying that it makes for a much better vehicle, the 4 cylinder ... Read More
Too bad Mitsu doesn't offer a manual tranny here. Subaru and Suzuki do, but the option is all too rare. I'd like to see Mitsu sell a Ralliart sportback - is that combination offered? I have yet to see an EVO sportback on the roads but that would certainly appeal more to me if I wanted something truly sporty. 18 city /24 on GT vs. 19/24 on XT, not even worth ... Read More
Borg Warner supplies that same system to Chrysler Corp, used in the Dodge Caliber and Jeep Compass. Note that the Compass is the only Jeep that's not Trail Rated. I'm sure any systems they supply to Porsche would meet very different duty requirements.
The 07 sinks in a lot deeper and needed a push to get unstuck. The 09 got out on its own. The 09's traction control system also allowed less wheel spin, the effort to get moving is always more controlled. This is far more than 99.9% of owners will ever subject them to.
