Toyota released a TSB for oil consumption on Nov 11, 2011, but it only covers toyota models. Hopefully they do the right thing and include Scions which use the same 4cyl 2AZ-FE motor. Here's a summary of the TSB (notice they loosened their acceptable standard for oil usage from 1qt/600miles to 1qt/1200miles; still a lot IMO, but hopefully enough to satisfy the owners of cars with excessive oil consumption): T-SB-0094-11 on ... With the new Scion models to debut soon, will the xB be discontinued or the 3rd generation be released? The current 2nd gen is now going on 5 years, so I would think it's coming to an end very soon. Update from previous post. I sent in an appeals form to the Bauer v. Toyota Settlement lawyer after the Toyota dealer said he would not replace the windshield because no one told him he had to. "... so my 2008 Scion xb with the replaced windshield from the mysterious L crack is not part of the settlement? not fair!" Windshield complaints were solicited in 2006, and there only enough responses from 2006 owners to include in the lawsuit, which was settled after 4 years of litigation in the summer of 2010. How is that unfair to 2008 owners of the completely different big box? Where were they ... Read More
I also got the letter about the class action suit. I own a 2006 Scion XB with 66,000 miles on it. I'm wondering how to use the "text" function on my radio.
Greetings to all on this excellent original thread. May 15, 2010, the mysterious "L" Shaped crack miraculous appeared on my 2006 Scion XB front windshield. Just for grins I looked up Edmunds' "True Cost to Own" for a 2008 Chevy Tahoe LT (didn't see a Z71 listed anywhere obvious) vs. the 2006 Scion Xb that I'd already looked up for another post. If their numbers are accurate, you'll be spending $69,337 over 5 years to own that vehicle, versus $33,063 for a Scion. Depreciation alone on the Chevy ($23,981) will be much more than enough to ... Just for grins I looked up the Edmunds 5-year "True Cost to Own" for a 2006 Scion Xb vs. a 2006 Jetta GLI. The dealership (or whoever installed the cruise) certainly is the culprit. Have you been installing accessories on your own? The wiring is messed up, that's why the fuse blew the 1st time. ...I think the next-generation Scion xB will be based on the next-generation Corolla platform. We could have gotten the new Toyota bB that came out in Japan at the beginning of 2006 but I think Toyota wanted the new xB to be a bit roomier. If you're seen the Scion T2B concept it may hint at what the new xB will be like.
"... considering an xB purchase, but the current xB does not accelerate well... Does anyone know any specs yet for the xb 2007?" My xB with manual transmission accelerates strongly. The road test of four "Rebellious Boxes" by Car & Driver put the xB's 0-60 mph time at 9.6 seconds. The 2007 xB will reportedly be the same as the 2006. The 2008 xB will reportedly be changed from the present ... Read More

Scion will continue to have three models. xB as it currently exists will be offered in 2006 and is it expected that this is the final year. Will the new bB be the replacement for the xB? Scion/Toyota has not made public it's plans. Will just have to be patient and see in the Fall.
Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum and thought I'd say hello! When I first saw the Scion xB back in 2003, I wasn't sure what model of vehicle I was seeing, but it definitely caught my attention. (And yes, admittedly, I too thought the car was ugly as hell, but have grown to embrace this "milk carton on wheels.") I initially mistook it for a Mini Cooper. These cars have ... Read More
I was glad to see an Onyx Blue xB 2006.5 with the audio controls at my dealer today. I test drove a RAV 4 Sport 4 cylinder and it was very nice. Good pep for a 4 cylinder - about the same as my old 03 4 cy Accord. 160 hp 2.4 L 4 cy. 18" alloy wheels. Cruise, moon roof and all the goodies. Believe it or not I am ... Read More
It's been common knowledge that the estimate mileage posted on new car stickers is inaccurate, and the only thing it's really good for seems to be comparing the MPG figures on those labels from car to car. Consumer Reports has, for years, been trying to get the government to use more accurate criteria on these stickers, and in fact, in the latest issue there is an article about just that: the ... I got the iPod-ready Pioneer radio option on my 2006 xB (purchased 8-1-05). The little cable that plugs into the floor (next to the gear shift) and then into the bottom of the iPod is too short to let the iPod sit anywhere but in the little tray next to the parking brake. I'd like to be able to keep my iPod in the flip-up armrest storage space. I'm looking for ... Read More
After doing a little bit of research, I almost went with ordering my xB in Raleigh-Durham, figuring that they would be a "less hassle" dealer than the Chicagoland dealers (who like to add extra cost items as markup). To my surpise, even on-line, the "Documentation Fee" was ~$400 in NC, while Chicago has none. Plus, delivery was less. So I walked into the local dealer knowing this, and 45 minutes later ... this is true.......my new 2006 xb came with 3 free oil changes. i had also seen a topic on the scion website that listed this incentive as a standard perk ;)
I am looking to help my wife customize her 2006scion xb, but we are having a hard time finding the one of a kind and newest custom parts for the 2006 scion xb. If anyone has sites to look at please let me know. Thanks
My wife just bought a 2006 scion xb. She has the exzact same problem and that is all that is wrong. She asked the scion dealer the next day and they told her it is a break in period type item. They told her that a couple of times backing up they will stop squeaking. I dont know how true that is but that is the answer that she got from ... Read More
Bought my 2006 xB August 1 2005; have about 4,000 miles on it now. I just put about 1300 miles on it driving round trip from Palm Springs to San Francisco and had the greatest time. I only stopped to put gas in; other than that it was non-stop and totally comfortable. When I drove without A/C got about 32 mpg (freeway). Things to watch for: 1. LOW front bumper. You'll ... They have a couple of salesmen who are 'authorized' to sell Scions. I'm very happy with my salesman's service and followup. I'm surprised they aren't responding to you. When I first went to look at an xB, they had about six 2005s on the lot. I bought the first 2006 they got; when I went back a few weeks later to get my radio installed, they had sold out, and only ... Read More
I have this feeling right now that the Ractis is Scion's xA successor. It's certainly aimed at a more affluent buyer than the upcoming Yaris, and unlike the current xA this new model looks it it could attract a large number of buyers, especially those what want a Scion but don't want the breadbox-shaped xB model. Also, Toyota needs a model to blunt the potential impact of the arrival of the ... Read More
I upgraded to the Pioneer radio that interfaces with the iPod when I bought my 2006 xB. Everything works great on the interface (you actually control your iPod with the controls on the radio, so the iPod can stay put away) but the cable provided with the radio is only 18" long. It plugs into a port on the floor next to the gear shift, and the other end plugs (obviously) ... Read More
Hi, I have been following this board for awhile as we are considering purchasing a 2006 XB. I see a lot of flucuation on the actual MPG and am curious if any type of study has been done on "normal" driving conditions as opposed to "ideal" driving conditions. The MPG is the main reason we are looking at the XB as we have a long daily commute. Two other things I'm ... Read More
Hi, I"ve had trouble accessing the Scion website for info on options, pricing, etc. since i don't have the latest bells and whistles computer system . . . long story short, I've been shopping for an xB. I agree with all the positive aspects mentioned on this wonderful forum. I'm 6'2" and have long been uncomfortable in normal sedan cars. The xB is immediately spacious and safe (good visibility). My experience ... Read More
