Have a 1997 Grand Caravan that had the same issues with door buzzers, lights, etc. going on and off. I took it to a Dodge Dealer who charged me $80.00 for a diagnostic and told me the computer module probably needed to be replaced to the tune of $600.00. Then I checked another forum site and was led to check the door frame where the sliding door makes contact. There were ... Read More

I had a Toyota that was junk, a Nissan Van, junk as well. My 1983 VW Vanagon was a serious problem magnet. It would appear that Toyota has consistent quality but Nissan and VW are questionable. During the past so many years I owned Pontiac, Ford, Dodge and Oldsmobile minivans. All were very reliable except the Grand Caravan. This van has soured me on Chrysler for the next 150 years. I ... I owned a 1994 Dodge Caravan 3.3L for 11 years that gave us good service for the 170,000 miles that we owned it. The transmission did need to be rebuilt once, but that was done at less than 50,000 miles under the new car warranty. It was fine for the rest of the time we had the van. There were really no other major costly repairs that we had to do. ... Read More

I would agree with farout here; I think they are all the same. And I just bought an 08 Grand Caravan. And, I would add that I don't believe the Japanese cars are more reliable. However, I do believe that the service departments at the Japanese dealers do a much better job to give the appearance of reliability. They really seem to emphasize fixing it right the first time. It may be irrelevant, but still applicable. Our Grand Caravan ES also had the 3.3L, and it was a nice quiet, smooth, and reliable engine. I never felt it was underpowered in any sense, as I could easily keep up with anyone on entrance ramps, or on any freeway. Its two-lane passing capability was also adequate. It was not this one single van because I drove several other Siennas. For those of you used to Detroit iron you would probably not find the drive offensive.
