Hi guys , I am new here. I hope someone can help me. I have had major work done to my 2003 chevy tracker ( that I adore!) Most recent was a cam/shaft sensor replaced...( before that fuel filter, fuel pump... my wallet is crying out in pain) After they installed the new sensor... i noticed a new prob. Whenever I have my ac on, and brake at a light or ... Read More

Back in August, my AC compressor went out and I was told by a mechanic to wait until the spring to have it fixed. Since then, though, the engine has been making a thumping noise and a friend told me it looks like the noise is coming from the broken compressor. Also, I have dashboard and headlights that flicker and It's not the alternator or the battery. Any ideas?

I've got a 2003 2 door convertible.............Has anyone here ever seen an aftermarket kit to add the rear door lock to the keyless entry system ? In other words, I would love to be able to lock and unlock the rear door along with the driver and passenger doors with either the driver door switch or the key fob..... I know I can't get one from Chevy, but the dealer said ... Read More
Thank you both for your responses. After dealing with the mechanic that was going to rip me off I called around and took it to some else. Within the hour they told me the cam sensor which is going to run like 450 with Labor and once they fixed that they did indeed say I need new converters. Not really so bad when you find out the EPA passed a law ... Read More

I have a 2003 chevy tracker with a v-6 that had the same problem, started out stalling and restarting right away then progressed to stalling and not starting for 30 minutes or better. No engine light and mechanics couldnt find the problem, did some research and found out that the camshaft position sensor would missread time and cause the engine to stall, I replaced it and no problem since. this is a well known issue on the Tracker. I just got done replacing mine tonite (about 20 minutes). The part is an electronic part that is located inside the front passenger side bumper. It is secured by two 12mm bolts, has two vacuum lines and and electronic connector. It took care of part of the problem I have (the blinking, and not going into 4WH Drive. The part is available ... 2000 4 dr 4wd, 2.0L, 124,166 miles, changed oil yesterday putting in 5 quarts Pennzoil dinosaur juice and ~8 oz Lucas Oil Stabilizer. Right to the top line on the dipstick. That tiny little oil filter can may hold .5 L but I'm betting it's more like 2 oz! This little 4-banger uses about a quart of oil in 3000 miles now, but used up half a quart every 3000 when ... Crosscutter, What engine do you have? I thought all '03 inlines were 2.0L DOHCs. If so, the oil capacity at change with filter is 5.5 US quarts, and 4 liters is only 4.2 quarts. Of course that would be low by a good lick on that dipsick. Each change with my 2.0L I put it 5 quarts of something-or-other with another can of an oil additive like STP for the other ... Read More
2003 Chevy Tracker - Oil Level Reads Low
Written by: crosscutter on Aug 4, 2009 12:15:43 PM
I just purchased the above mentioned vehicle and did a oil change. I added the correct amount of oil, 4 litres with filter and checked the dipstick and it only shows a little over half way to the full mark. I checked with Edmonston' Lemon-Aid book and it indicated this was a problem. Does anyone know if GM has a fix or will I just put a file mark on the ... Read More
Ever since we replaced the cam-sensor she has not had any problems. It has nothing to do with AC or Catalytic converter. The job cost us under $275 if I remember, and no more problems. They are dependable cars and she makes short runs around town and back and forth from VA to NJ. With peace of mind driving. The cam-sensor was the answer and after going to "3" dealerships...I found ... Read More

I have a 2003 Chevy Tracker, 4 cyl. 4 door SUV 4x4. I just moved from the country to the city. I now take a bus to work but my wife now uses the Tracker to commute a long distance to/from her work. Towing

We all know engineers underrate their tow ratings for vehicles. The reason Chev does is obvious as they want you to buy a bigger truck. Can't have a small Chevy truck pulling the same as a full size half ton P/U. Here's where the conspiracy theory comes in. I bet you seven ways to Sunday Chevy "CONVINCED" Suzuki to match their underated tow rating for the Grand Vitara. My 2003 2.5L ... Read More
