Re: 2011 Buick LeCrosse vibration [djaa]
Written by: alisonmcgee on Apr 16, 2012 11:36:01 AM
I have a 2010 Buick LaCrosse with 32,000 miles. I am experiencing a similar vibration (felt in stearing wheel) at 70+mph. Noticed it first last summer when I bought custom 20" rims/tires, the firmer tires exaggerated the problem more. My car has been at dealer for 35 days now. They've done nothing but loosen/tighten motor mounts, switch tires around, road force balance. Have your issues been addressed yet?

FYI, yes and yes. GM bought back both a 09 Malibu LT2 and the 11 Lacrosse CXS. Both were nightmares with the number of problems. Both also had serious safety issues. For example, the Malibu was very unstable on the road, like some others experienced. It also had a flaw in the electric power steering with which it would about every thousand miles try to drive you off the road to ... Read More

LaCrosse sales down 4.4% in 2011
Written by: bwia on Jan 5, 2012 6:27:41 AM
Buick LaCrosse sales for 2011 was a mixed bag. Although sales increased in December 2011 by 4.3% (5,360 Vs 5,140 units) sales for the year as a whole dropped by 4.4% (58,474 units in 2011 Vs 61,178 in units in 2010). Not sure who is stealing LaCrosse's sales but the Cadillac CTS sales were up 20.6% for 2011, 55,042 Vs 45,656 units in 2010. Perhaps consumers are finding the CTS a ... Read More

Do not attempt rotor removal unless you are a qualified mechanic and even then it would completed free of charge by any Buick dealership in the country so why do it yourself? I agree with your comments. The point I was trying to make is exactly what you say. The American public will continue to buy whatever they can afford and want - that's why it is America. The resulting problem is that since we do that and some Americans chose to buy say a Hummer for whatever reason and it gets 8 MPG, we, as a nation, use more fuel than if ... Read More

I generally don't ride in very hilly or mountains. Older vehicles with override clutch would positively engage when pulled from D(OD) position. It seems these 6 speeds are not as good at engine braking when applied. Even pulling down a gear or more they are hesitant to engage depending upon speed and engine RPM, so it is necessary to apply brake to get you within the allowed range for that gear. ... Read More

Good post on problems with GY low profiles. The trend towards bigger rims is great as long as the increase is reasonable and results in larger brake rotors that means better stopping and longer wear IMO. The "looks only" reason leaves us with less sidewall to absorb impacts and protect the expensive alloy rims on most newer cars. I talked to one tire dealer trying to shed the GY with only 50 miles and he told me he would not sell me road hazard because of the low profile. If the sidewalls are just bubbling, then that sounds like a defect that should be replaced by Goodyear. HOWEVER, if the damage was caused by a road hazard, then you are on the hook. I have had to replace 2 on mine because I hit something (a rock and a raised manhole cover. $312!!! But I bought road hazard insurance $12/tire, so the second one was covered.
