Re: Draining Coolant on 2001 Buick Century [rockyfan]
Written by: rodkney on Oct 8, 2007 1:27:18 PM
you're at step 1 of what I found in my 2000 century, I found the drain way up on the engine side of the right side of the radiator..looking from front of caR. I drained the coolent, flushed the system, and refilled the system. Only...to see the grayish brown sludge to appear again. Now my problem is with the heat gauge going slightly above the norm, and my transmission shifting hard ... Read More

I CARRIED MY CAR TO A QUICK LUBE AND HAD THEM TO DRAIN ENOUGH COOLANT OUT TO PUT THE BOTTLE OF CASCADE IN THEN BLED THE AIR OUT OF THE SYSTEM WITH THE BLEED VALVE. AFTER I DROVE IT FOR A FEW DAYS ... Draining Coolant on 2001 Buick Century
Written by: rockyfan on Apr 8, 2007 6:37:44 AM
Good morning, I have a 2001 Century, just purchased from family member two weeks ago, it has since been driven over 3,000 miles, I got stuck in traffic and noticed the temp gauge riding up a bit, not past the middle but up enough to cause me concern,, I simply lowered the windows and put the heat on full blast till traffic eased. When stopped for the night I noticed the ... Read More

Low coolant light
Written by: fmroczka on Apr 4, 2007 5:11:42 PM
Can anyone help me with my wife,s 2001 Buick Century. I have checked the coolant both in the radiator and the overflow container, and both are at proper levels. I.m thinking this could be a sensor, and if so where is it located and is it easily replaced? Any help would be appreciated. Thank You

On my brand new 2001 century, already had a click. The dealer shop and every service technician i have spoken with about it since, says this is nothing to worry about. Just a nuisance! Also, brakes have always squeaked a little in humid conditions.

2001 Buick Century

Is there anyone who had this problem: My engine fans come on as soon as I start my car, this prevents my car from getting warm enough to provide heat in the winter time. One solution that I have came up with is to remove two main fuses, but the problem with that is when I do get caught in rush hour my car runs to hot. If anyone has had ... Read More

Want Opinion's regarding a rebuilt salvage Century
Written by: fordtrucknut on Jun 8, 2004 9:10:10 AM
Hello All! I am seriously considering the purchase of a Rebuilt 2001 Buick Century Limited that was crashed. It was sold at a Salvage Auction and professionaly rebuilt by a 40 year body man that does this as a part time business. It was hit in the left front side and all front end sheet metal was replaced including, the core support, radiator & A/C condensor, small under hood parts, and ... Read More

Buick Century
Written by: holesnipe on Mar 11, 2002 9:08:21 PM
BTW, the name "Century" dates back to the thirties and was in reference to the fact that the car could achieve the then magical speed of 100 mph. Just bought a 2001 Century Custom today for $11,999; 27,000 miles; rental return. Beautiful automobile. I'm a little concerned about earlier posts about the defective pistons from the 2000 model year run, this 2001 has what sounds to me like a noisy lifter ... Read More

Thanks for your advice on Century/coolant leaks. I did price a new Custom with just cruise control the only option for a price of $17,986. That included the rebate. But I'm an old retired guy (just right for a Century) and 3 grand eases my budget buying the one year old leaser. I'm going from a pick-up truck to the Buick to soothe my old bones. One I'm looking at now ... Read More

Scared away from Century
Written by: usaf52 on Feb 1, 2002 7:54:19 AM
Hey, you guys are scaring me away with your talk of coolant leaks. I've been scoping out 2001 Centurys, most coming off one year leases with mileage in the teens. Prices about $14900. Went on Autotrader and searched in a 200 mile radius and found 253 2001 Buick Centurys for sale. I'm told that dealers buy these at auctions, most from Florida, and most in service for a year. Warranty still ... Read More

A funny noise
Written by: tomodell on Dec 21, 2001 5:04:21 PM
I love my 2001 Buick Century, and it is running great. There is just this one little noise that is starting to irritate me. This noise would probably not be noticable on most cars. The Buick Century's interior is normally so quiet, that you hear things that you wouldn't on noisier cars. If any body knows what the noise is I would appreciat some advice. Here is the description: Noise: A ... Read More

"Anyone considering a new Buick Century or one of its similar cousins should seriously think again if they plan to use it for long trips. You will not be happy unless you rarely drive more than 45mph. It’s unbelievable to me that General Motors would be producing new cars with this much bump-steer." Well, I own a 2001 Chevy Impala LS (W-Body cousing to the Regal/Century) and the car is an ... Read More

Buick Century Bump Steering to the Extreme
Written by: brucec3 on Nov 26, 2001 10:43:02 AM
I rented a 2001 Buick Century and drove it the 140-mile round trip between Tulsa and Stillwater OK on the 75mph Cimerron Turnpike. It’s been a while since I have driven a mid-size GM. I could not believe the amount of bump-steer this vehicle exhibited. For those who have never heard of this phenomena, bump-steer is the tendency of a car to change direction after encountering any bump in the road ... Read More

Buick Century Special
Written by: occupant1 on Apr 26, 2001 5:21:26 PM
I just checked out the sticker on a new 2001 Century and realized there is no longer a Special model. From 1992 to 1996 it was a basic Century, about $1000 cheaper than a Custom, with more limited options. They could take the Century Custom, lose power windows and locks, give it a plain AM-FM radio, use thinner carpet, cheaper tires, maybe the 2.4L 4-cylinder, and have a $17,000 Century to ... I worked for a GM dealership for 4 years as a light duty mechanic in the early 90s'. All the time that I was there I never saw a Buick Century in for any major repairs. We just bought our second Buick Century. The new one is for my wife and we gave the older one to our son in college. They are great cars and get good mileage both in town and on the highway. Our first one we bought two and a half years ago and is a 1998 model. We have driven it over 70,000 miles (my wife drives a lot in her work. ... Read More
