DETROIT — The base 2013 Nissan Leaf S starts at $29,650, including an $850 destination charge, reflecting a $6,400 price cut over the base 2012 Nissan Leaf.
The 2013 Leaf S undercuts the 2013 Ford Focus Electric and the 2012 Mitsubishi i. The 2013 Ford Focus Electric starts at $39,995, including a $795 destination charge. The 2012 Mitsubishi i starts at $29,975, including an $850 destination charge. Mitsubishi has not announced 2013 i pricing.
The base 2012 Nissan Leaf SV starts at $36,050, including an $850 destination charge.
Nissan North America said that available federal and state incentives can bring the price of the 2013 Leaf S down to less than $19,000. Leaf buyers may be eligible for a $7,500 federal tax credit.
The top-of-the-line 2013 Nissan Leaf SL starts at $35,680, including shipping. The midrange 2013 Nissan Leaf SV starts at $32,670, including shipping.
Nissan also announced that it will continue its lease offer for the 2013 Leaf, which starts at $199 per month for 36 months.
Nissan recently began U.S. assembly of the 2013 Leaf at its Smyrna, Tennessee plant.
