It's not the driving experience that I want. It's everything else. I can make the driving experience what I want with a few changes and about 500 bucks.

Early 2009 when I was car shopping, I had narrowed things down to Jaguar XF vs Audi A6 3.0T. Lucky for me I ended up with Lexus GS450h instead, apparently!
You know, I love my 2009 A4 and it is a better PERFORMING car than the outgoing 2005 A6. But, tho I live in a BIG TOWN (or small city, Cincinnati), I just can't really use the performance the Audi offers. Imagine how I feel with 10 cylinders, and no autobahn to use them on. I think my pick for the entry-lux segment is still the S4, although Infiniti has done ... Read More
I come here from time to time, but the, er, attendance, is way down here. Perhaps it is because there aren't enough NEW models to merit discussion; or, perhaps, worse, "it's the economy stupid." You know, though, my $53,286 MSRP A6 (2005) went for the same monthly lease for the same term as my ~$49K MSRP A4 (2009) -- all this during a time when the Fed cut rates to nearly ... Read More
The A4 Premium is a strippie -- and really would not even be part of the LPS crowd. I traded in a loaded $53K+ 2005 A6 for a more loaded $49K 2009 A4 Prestige. Greetings DWPC, Well I don't see any questions so I guess I'll just say, your doing the right thing. Having said that, I've been doing this Forum for two maybe three months now and most of the Audi problems are pre2004 models. No I don't work for Audi. There have been MANY MANY little running changes/improvements to the C6 since it was brought out in 2004 (2005 MY, US). Here's what I think was meant, and it is relevant only to the 2009 and 2010 MY versions. A6 could be had with a 3.0TFSI (Supercharged) 300HP engine coupled to a revised software (faster, smoother, shifts) 6 speed tiptronic. The quattro (TorSen) system, remains active, as opposed to reactive, but ... Read More
My perception or comparison, if you like, was from this perspective: I got out of a 2005 Audi C6 A6 which was pretty well loaded and walked over to my new 2009 Audi B8 A4 (about 15 months ago). My 2009 A4 Prestige with Audi Drive Select, 19" sport package, almond wood trim, navigation+rear camera and power rear sunshade is either "about the same" as the outgoing A6 or, for the detail minded, a substantial upgrade in several key areas. First off, the B8 A4 has a 110+" wheelbase -- very very close to the C6 A6. The C6 is a bit wider and from front to rear is longer ... Read More

For 2009 both M35 and M35x got the 3.5L from G35 (303hp / 268 lb-ft) but only M35 got the 7-speed AT which boosted fuel economy by a little. M45 got no improvements in that category at all. M35 still has a less powerful engine than what is now in the G37 (328hp / 269 lb-ft).
Thanks for the suggestion Lexusguy. The Jag and especially the Audi have much better fuel economy numbers than M45 certainly in part due to the extra gear. Interestingly the Infiniti dealer did not have a 2009 M35 (with the new engine and 7-speed transmission) that he could find for me to test drive to compare with the M45. I have an 08 4.2 A6, and there is a big difference in power between the 3.2 and 4.2. The new 3.0 supercharged is supposed to have 300 lb ft of torque. I'll admit that Audi's 3.2 A6 is underpowered for the maket and ... Read More
on the 2009 A4 is late this year [september, october] we'll see the 3.2 automatic. My understanding is that we will not see a 3.2 manual A4 in the states. However, you can order an A5 3.2 manual. The 2.0T That is going back to chain drive is getting a big torque boost and is much smother than the current belt driven 2.0T. [so I'm told] The 3.2 in the A5 is ... Read More
I have been, personally, through Audi's winter driving school in Seefeld, Austria four times. I have also been through BMW's X driving school. That is the extent of my "cred." The RWD cars almost NEVER beat the FWD cars in normal everyday driving under the conditions that were shown in this video without studded tires (on all four corners) and ESP. Perhaps the cars in this test were not shod with ... Read More
This 09 Silver A4 at the Frankfurt show looks pretty stunning. http://www.motortrend.com/auto_shows/coverage/frankfurt/112_2007_frankfurt_motor- - _show_part_1/2009_audi_a4.html
Audi will have to spruce up the A6 soon. The next generation 2009 A4 is growing by a whopping 6.6 inches in the wheelbase to 110.90, up from 104.3. The current A6 is 111.90. A 1 inch bigger car in the wheelbase is not much difference to justify a lot of money. The A6 will still be a couple inches wide and a bigger car, but it'll be hard to spend ... Read More
I am NOT speaking of HP or number of cogs in the transmission when I speak of content. I have grown to expect Bluetooth, pushbutton start, smart key, voice response for audio, nav and phone and a host of other "content" items. It is true that a 2004 Audi would have had only a 5 speed auto, but it would have been an SLine with 265 HP and 280 ft pounds ... Read More
Personally I would never buy and Audi with out a warranty and I'm sure otheres here on this forum would agree. Maintenance is very expensive and and out of warranty service is EXTREMELY expensive. I had a seal go out in the transmission and if it were not coverer under warranty it would have been almost $3000 to repair. I also had another issue that was not a warranty repair but ... Read More
Well the European sales figures should be online in a day or so, but I think the last time I saw them the A6 was outselling both the 5-Series and E-Class, at least in Germany if not the rest of Europe. I don't know what Acura is to do. 50K is too much for the RL to a lot of people I guess. I suspect that come re-design time there will ... Read More
