2024 Honda Prologue
I am posting with hopes of helping others, especially other Honda loyalists/drivers considering an EV. The TLDR: After only 3 months and just 2000 miles, our Prologue requires a new lithium ion battery and both front axles have to be replaced. Additionally, the auto-breaking and collision warning is overly sensitive at best, dangerous at worst.
We leased our Prologue at the end of … September. By late December we noticed a popping/thumping noise that occurred when we turned, especially in the cold weather . Then, a week later, we received an error message that the lithium-ion battery was unable to charge. We took it to Honda for service; after 3 days they determined that the battery needed to be replaced as do both front axles. The parts are not in stock, and the dealership has no timeline for the parts.
Additionally, the auto-braking is overly sensitive and has stopped the car suddenly, without there being a threat. It occurred once when a car simply passed alongside us (not particularly close) and another time while parallel parking. The auto-breaking also engages when backing up on our driveway, we believe due to the incline of the driveway. Other owners have reported similar issues with backing up. In none of these instances was there a collision risk. Ironically, the unexpected braking nearly caused a collision as other drivers had no way of anticipating the car would break.
Regrettably we are stuck with this car for another 33 months. I'm already counting down.
