Coming from a string of numerous large V8 SUV's I ordered this car new for its retro looks and "hoped" it would perform well. I was skeptical based on my experience with V8's and this was a 4 cylinder. Upon delivery I was impressed with the build quality. I installed a stainless steel Borla dual exhaust kit, an Air-Raid cold air intake system and faux-wood interior appliques to "dress … it up". To my utter surprise the performance of this car with its 4 Cyl and 5 speed manual transmission coupled with a watts-linkage suspension proved both nimble and enjoyable. I drove this car as an enjoyable daily driver for over a decade. It was professionally maintained by an independent SAE mechanic but the timing belt was changed by the dealer at 99,000 miles. I'm on my 3rd set of tires and have new allow wheels because the original chrome steel started to leak air. The only road incident experienced was a lady driving a van rolled into my back end at a traffic light which was repaired by a body shop right away. All alignment and handling is perfect. Now that I'm retired and under medical care I hardly drive this any longer because I don't hardly drive. It was always stored either garaged or well covered but as with most 20 year old cars it could use a good paint cleaning and waxing. It also has new headlights as the originals had the plastic could as normally does. The new housings are crystal clear. Gas mileage aggressively driven averages mid twenties (25+) mpg. All power windows work, all power door locks work and the rear seats fold flat for increased cargo room.
