I Will Always Regret Selling This Car...

2006 Cadillac STS
It's now been 3 years since I sold my STS. Like the friend of your childhood who never failed you but over the years you lost touch with, every now again I look back at selling this car, and I know I'll always regret it.
I bought it from a private seller with 72,000 miles on it for $6,300. Absolute steal. It was the V8, RWD version, arguably the best and most reliable version to get … overall. It was silver with a grey interior, and had most options - my personal favorites were heated seats front and back, as well as the heated steering wheel.
I owned it for about a year, and it was flawless in that time. The new RWD versions of the Northstar V8 are SO much better and more reliable than the old FWD versions. Unfortunately, I had no choice to sell it when I did...even with snow tires, the car was awful to drive in the winter. I couldn't get out of my slightly inclined driveway when 2 inches of snow accumulated. In the snowy north, that just won't do.
These days, the car is still on the road, and occasionally I'll hear from the buddy I sold it to that it continues to run like a top, now well over 100,000 miles. If it was a V8, AWD car, there's no question that I would still be driving it today, likely without issue and without monthly car payments. Sometimes I sit in a dark room and curse the fact that I was born in Ohio.
My recommendation to you? If you can find one of these in good condition with a V8, buy it. As in most love stories that somehow wither and die, circumstances outside of our control can render even the most beautiful relationships unable to endure the test of time. "It just wasn't the right time"...so even though you loved her, you had to let her go. The ghost of that goodbye will likely never fully leave me.
Buy this car. Because no matter what happens, sometimes it's better to have loved and been hurt, then to have never loved at all.
