Great car but seats are bad in basic trim

2025 Cadillac OPTIQ
Takeaway: this is a great car but Cadillac must provide ventilation for all trims. The basic trim is a swamp-butt in summer: you are literally sitting on a huge piece of plastic. There is no ventilation whatsoever. Our 2008 Corolla has fabric seats and I never experienced the “sitting on hot coals” sensation I have when in the Luxury 1 Cadillac Optiq. It is really a shame.
Thus, if you … like the car, get the top trim Luxury 2 or Sports 2. It really will be worth the small price difference.
Wish we knew this when we shopped, but everyone makes it sound like ventilated seats are optional and a fad: they are not! If you ride in the basic trim in summer, even for 20 mins you will want to be out of it as soon as possible because your butt and legs will be on fire.
Cadillac doesn’t have a satisfaction guarantee so you can’t exchange the lower trim for the higher one after the fact. And at the test drive it’s really not enough time to say with confidence: yup, those seats are bad.
So I am leaving this review for anyone who might find it useful.
Other than this, the car feels well built. It drives nice. Acceleration is great. Moon roof is great. Etc. But the seats: there is nothing luxurious about them, they’re plain old vinyl and they feel horrible.
