LET'S LOOK AT MAINTENANCE COSTS & SAFETY - NOT MPG
Professional consultant, 04/23/2023
2023 Nissan Armada Platinum 4dr SUV 4WD (5.6L 8cyl 7A)
We have a 20l7 ARMADA PLATINUM with II6,000 miles on it. I love the reviewers both here and at Car & Driver talking about "ranking" the Tahoe, GMC, Jeep, and Ford together with the Armada and claiming others should be higher-ranked - Let's see the Maintenance records and repairs on ALL those makes after six-figures of mileage. I believe the rankings would be a LOT different. We are … looking at buying a second Armada (2023) and keeping the 2017, We initially bought the Extended Warranty (I0 year, 120,000 miles) on the 2017 and never used it. ANY new car/SUV looks good when new, how good are they after I00,000 miles - and how much money did you spend on maintenance? Forget MPG - how safe are these trucks when you get into a major accident?? We are buying a second Armada - cannot go wrong with the SL - the new interior and wood trim looks better than a 202I Infiniti QX80 (which MSRP is about $30K higher) - we just saw on the used lot. If you just want to pay for routine maintenance - oil./filter, tires and brakes - go with the Armada. Other SUVs? Ask the owners how much money they put into them if they have I00,000+ miles on them. Made a decision today- Buying a 2023 AND keeping the 20l7. Walking away from a major accident (which we did) is a MORE important than getting a couple more MPG.
Driving the 2023 Armada SL. We have about twelve thousand miles on it. Went for oil and filter change. That is about it as far as maintenance. The 20l7 Platinum has just over l2l,000 miles on it - Like new. Both are solid trucks underrated by some of these car/truck reviewers. Not sure why? Both of these are a LOT faster off the line than other full-size SUVs. (and NOT $l05,000 as a price tag)
