The 2025 QX55 is a sportier and more stylish cousin of the QX50, and it makes a good first impression with sharp looks and a surprisingly spacious cabin. The driving experience is a letdown, though, as is real-world fuel economy. Overall, we think there are better choices for a coupe-style crossover SUV.
Pros
- Pro:Many premium features included as standard
- Pro:Above-average cargo space compared with other coupe-style SUVs
Cons
- Con:Inconsistent power delivery
- Con:Some interior parts feel substandard
- Con:Stale infotainment graphics and low-resolution camera for a luxury vehicle
- Con:Available adaptive steering feels overly disconnected
What’s new
- The QX55 is unchanged for 2025
- Part of the first QX55 generation introduced for 2022

2025 INFINITI QX55 Review
Overview
The 2025 Infiniti QX55 is the coupe-like adaptation of the more conventional QX50, making it the smallest SUV in Infiniti's lineup. The swooping rear roofline tapers to the tail, giving it a more streamlined silhouette, but as is the case with most fastback-style SUV variants, there are some sacrifices to be made. You'll lose around 15% in cargo capacity and lose at least an inch-an-a-half in rear passenger headroom. Most shoppers attracted to the sportier shape should be fine with these drawbacks, but the price may be a bigger obstacle. The QX55 costs several thousand dollars more than the QX50, so you're essentially paying more to get less.
Edmunds spotlight: Odd driving manners
Infiniti's variable compression engine uses an ingenious system that promises the efficiency of a smaller engine and the power of a larger motor when called upon. Unfortunately, neither is fully realized with the QX55, and pairing this system with the continuously variable transmission results in inconsistent acceleration and inelegant lurches. The adaptive steering system is another point of contention, as it lacks feedback and makes the driver feel disconnected. Combined with a soft suspension tuning, the QX55 is a far cry from a sporty SUV. We suggest checking out our Expert Rating below for the full story.
Competitors to consider
We think there are better choices for a small SUV than the 2025 QX55. The recently redesigned BMW X2 is a shining example that delivers the kind of performance this Infiniti only aspires to. The Mercedes-Benz GLA should appeal to shoppers seeking a more luxurious ride and it's also more pleasant to drive. While you might think you'd have to shell out more money for these German rivals, the opposite is true. Both undercut the QX55's price by a sizable margin.
Which QX55 does Edmunds recommend?
The midrange Essential trim gets our recommendation. For a rather reasonable price, it adds several desirable features to the base Luxe trim, including ventilated front seats, a surround-view camera and a premium Bose audio upgrade.

2022 INFINITI QX55 SENSORY 4dr SUV AWD (2.0L 4cyl Turbo CVT)
After looking at half a dozen other cars I knew this was the one as soon as I set eyes on it. Curbside appeal and interior are great and then driving it sealed the deal. Now, after three months I am finally getting to understand how most of the advanced electronics operate. Just blows me away - a truly intelligent car. I have owned three Infiniti vehicles in the past without any … mechanical problems and expect this one to be as reliable as the others. Infiniti delivers a great driving experience with power, comfort and styling with the QX55. Since I like to do my own routine maintenance, got turned off by the German cars in the premium SUV category. There is plenty of superior engineering in this car with AWD, dual turbochargers and Constant Velocity Transmission.
After almost three years of driving, I can now update my review with a few additional comments. The onboard electronics can occasionally lock-up and fail to allow for GPS or integrated telephone usage. Usually, the problem goes away after a few minutes or a restart. My guess is that a computer chip has a bug or gets confused. After all, there probably are dozens of chips in the car so that is the cost of contemporary electronics. On the positive side, there are no squeaks, wind noise or other distracting sounds after three years of driving.
Still love the look of the car and the drive.

2022 INFINITI QX55 SENSORY 4dr SUV AWD (2.0L 4cyl Turbo CVT)
Purchase this vehicle for my wife’s birthday she is a lover of the Infiniti this is her third one. Infiniti has been a very reliable vehicle with no problems from the previous two so to purchase this QX 55 was a great choice with all the great looks and comfort. We have no complaints and love the ride it gives along with room that’s there when we need it😎

2022 INFINITI QX55 ESSENTIAL 4dr SUV AWD (2.0L 4cyl Turbo CVT)
Moved from a 2019 QX50 to the QX55. While the look of the vehicle was what first drew my attention, the drive quality is far superior to the QX50. Infiniti must have done some tweaking as the transmission is much smoother and the engine seems to deliver more power. The two tone leather is very pleasing to the eye and the seats are comfortable. I don’t share the criticism of the dual … monitors. I appreciate being able to see audio info on one screen with maps on a different screen. I agree, though, that camera resolution needs improvement. Rear storage are is good for a coupe style crossover. All in all, I am very pleased with the QX55. Much more so than the QX50.
We have a limited number of reviews for the 2025 INFINITI QX55, so we've included reviews for other years of the QX55 since its last redesign.
