WHAT A TRUCK
I purchased this Denali two weeks ago. I absolutely love this truck. The ride is so smooth and power band is incredible. What a huge difference between my 2008 GMC 2500HD Duramax, its like night and day... I love all the high tech features with the 2020's from the cameras to the front and rear LED lighting. Oh yea forgot about that first of its kind tailgate. Now that's a very useful tailgate, I can see Ford, Dodge and Chevrolet using the same basic tailgate in the near future. I really cant wait to haul my 5th wheel with this truck. Once I make that first trip I will update this review regarding the towing... A big thank you for Thompsons GMC in Placerville, CA for such a great purchasing experience. It’s been about a year since I purchased my GMC 3500 Denali and wanted to update my review. I still love this truck so much. I’ve towed my 5th wheel RV approximately 8000K miles. This truck tows my 5th wheel like a dream. The cooling system is definitely a 100% improvement over my 2008 while towing in the warmer weather. About the only thing I’d like to see is GM add more information to the heads up display (HUD) like your blind spot indicators. I’m glad we bought when we did because I hear that dealers are having a tough time receiving new trucks. Bottom line is this, I’d buy this truck all over again absolutely No Regrets!!!!

Heavy Duty tuxedo surpassed expecations
In my 3rd year of owning the new 2020 GMC 3500 HD Denali after replacing my 2012 F250. Choose the GMC because I did not care for the new Ford styling. I still can not believe this is a HD 3500. While commuting around town, I think I am in my wife's German SUV because the ride and amenities are excellent. Visibility and Camera system are great and the interior seats comfortable and supportive. When I hooked up the 3x axle boat and set out to the lake I was amazed at the poise and power. It made towing enjoyable! I really like my F250, but this truck is awesome.

Incredible
After waiting for several months and production delays I was finally able to get my hands on a 2020 3500 Denali DRW and I have to say that this truck was well worth the wait. It drives smoother than any truck I've ever owned and the safety features are incredible. I have absolutely no complaints and with it being a Denali there really isn't any more stuff I will need to add. (other than a fifth wheel hitch) I love the 10 speed transmission and the 6.6 diesel has more than enough HP and torque. GMC hit it out of the park!
Trailer issues
Extremely disappointed with my 2020 Denali 3500hd. I own 6 trailers and only 1 works with the "new" trailer integration system. I get trailer not connected display, brake lockup on connecting, flickering lights. Trailers work perfect on other rigs. GM dealership basically said to pound sand and update my trailers to work with their system.
Over 112 days in the shop & counting!
I am a sole proprietor of Vintage Rides Garage & Vintage Rides, LLC. I purchased 2022 GMC Sierra 3500hd in Elk City Oklahoma Sept 24, 2021 during the "CHIP" debacle. It was purchased to avoid being stranded on the side of the road on a long haul. After many trips and 98,387 miles. On July 8, 2023 I head what sounded like a flat tire. I pulled off the highway and found it was coming from the engine compartment. It being a Saturday I called for a flatbed tow waiting to take to the dealership on Monday July 10th, 2023. After 45 plus days and the truck not throwing any codes they had a factory rep out to evaluate the issue. The crank shaft had an issue and metal was throughout the engine. They replaced engine with a new factory Duramax and took me for a ride. During the ride the service manager and I witnessed a hard shimmy/shake. Now it appears 112 days at the shop after using the original injection system & turbo, they replaced several injectors and are planning on adjusting valves. If the issue persists they will order yet another engine and start the process over. All the while my business has lost its only means of revenue and I still have to pay my truck payment that is $1000 a month plus commercial insurance $1,068 a month with no end in site with no concern from GM or the Local Dealership. I will wait it out sell it when ready I guess I'm a no longer a GM man. Mike G. Vintage Rides Garage USDOT-3261352 MC-1035008 Red Bluff, CA

GMC BACKWARDS
If you purchase a 2022 GMC Denali expecting to get the amenities of a GMC 2019 2020 you will be sorely disappointed. They have eliminated some of the most important accessories amenities for that vehicle there is no longer telescoping pedals for shorter people there is no longer a telescoping steering wheel unless you want to do it manually. The memory seat function does not work correctly you cannot just push the button and enjoy the convenience of the seat going to the position in which you have said it. The CarPlay function will not work correctly because if two people are in the vehicle at the same time and both phones have been paired it will not use the one that has been chosen as the favorite . If you expected to get adaptive cruise and those functions you will also be sorely disappointed these are not available either on the 2022 vehicle what you will get is a $92,000 vehicle that has less amenities than a 2019 that you could’ve purchased for $62,000 this vehicle is ripping off consumers. Please look carefully at the documentation that is so long and hard to read before you confirm your order if you still are interested in getting on this vehicle. What’s on it is pretty good but why go backwards in time and eliminate things that made vehicle above the rest? IE telescoping pedals my wife can’t drive the vehicle comfortably!!!!!

Everyone tells me my truck is awesome
It’s a great truck. BUT. There is a problem with tailgate switches. Me and three friends have had them go bad. Mine would open randomly on the highway or anywhere and things would fall out. First time was under warranty. Second time truck was past 36k and under 12 months for parts, except I put 12k on the tailgate switch. Miles on the switch! They go bad, they are dangerous and I’ll be looking for a class action lawsuit post card someday to get my money back as I just had to pay for the new one.

Good!!!
I have one, purchased in 2017, used for pulling boats and RVs. It ran more than 50,000 kilometers, with strong power, low fuel consumption, and no trouble. It is a very very good car.

What a BEAST
Drove this truck 1,000+ miles up and down crazy steep grades through the Rockies and all over the Southwest pulling a 32ft trailer. This thing handled it like nothing. What a breeze to drive.

Impressed with this rig
Ours is the Duramax. We traded out Tundra mid road trip because it was struggling with our RV. I am a Toyota guy all the way but this truck has been unbelievable. It is 7700 lbs and we get over 20 MPG easy. If I need to get on it to merge with traffic, it slams you into your seat. I have had over 500 miles on a tank with 240 of that pulling our trailer (and I still had 1/8th of a tank left). Oil change was less than I expected and finding diesel has not been an issue. I know there are significant issues with the lifters in the gas burners but not with the Duramax. Don’t shy away from this diesel truck. Our only issue has been with the nav, it takes some getting used to but once you bend to its will life is good. Hope this helps

This truck is a beast when it comes to towing our 12k lbs fifth wheel. It is comfortable for the family on long trips and the tech inside is great!

WHEN its on the road, its nice.
This truck can't stay on the road. It's already killed a DPF and had to have a break pedal assembly replaced! less than 20K miles - what a joke. BTW - that DPF takes 30 days for a part from the factory.... My 2003 still has both of these systems operating from the factory with over 300K miles hahahahaha

Not a fan of the 10 speed transmission
I have a 2022 GMC Sierra 3500 hd pro model. It is a duramax and 10 speed transmission. I plow a bunch of residential driveways and some smaller commercial areas. The transmission is very sluggish shifting back and forth between forward and reverse. Also the transmission starts in 2nd gear unless you have tow/haul mode on. The truck is not bad inside and normal driving. I think there is too much electronic stuff on it like the parking brake and the 4 wheel drive.

Top running Lights!!!
Why do they need to to put the running lights on top?? Think it makes it look cheap. Think looks more rugged without lights on top. Fender lights don't bother me although. Beautiful truck.

Best truck I’ve owned
Only issue I have is not GM’s fault. The emissions system hinders this truck’s true potential. Otherwise it has done everything I’ve ever asked it to.

Great 1 ton dually w/30K lb 5th wheel hitch.
Great road tractor, with 6.6L Duramax, 10 speed Allison and a comfortable Cowboy Cadillac. Plenty of towing capacity. Barely broke in with 49K miles since new in April of 2021. Sold my 5th wheel RV so no longer need the dually.

Buyer beware - incompatible electric to hydraulic
Just purchased a 2024 GMC Sierra 3500 for the whole purpose to pull our RV. Problem exist where the GMC errors out and disables brakes while driving. Inconsistent behavior. Always connects and remains active until something happens that it senses an issue and disables the trailer brakes. Odd that it reconnects the brake when vehicle comes to a complete stop (0 MPH) and/or put into park. GMC is blaming the brake actuator manufacturer. However, my RV worked fine on my 2022 GMC 2500 with no errors. GMC is basically saying it’s not my problem and produced a bulletin which pretty much blames the brake actuator simulator and says they are clean. I argue there are probably others with the same issue using an electric to hydraulic brake system. I also argue that to put this bulletin out after my purchase and my issue is bad customer service and support. If they don’t work with all third party manufacturers they should say that up front. So if you want a truck for pulling RVs without conditional parameters that are not publish, look for another truck. I gave a 3 because other than this trailering brake issue the truck performance is spot on. It’s a shame their engineers are ignoring this problem and left me to work around.

Computer issues
We have a 2023 GMC 3500 and a 2023 Chevy Highcountry. Both brand new. One at 20k miles and one at 40k miles and both keep going in low power mode, shutting down exhaust brake option. Seth Wadley in Paul’s Valley has told us each time it’s a computer issue and needs to happen three time to each truck before they will cover it under warranty. The last time it’s made a large popping noise and left us 3 hours from home with a loaded trailer. We have one more time for it to occur to see if they will fix the problem. We have been Ram 3500 owners for almost 30 years. These trucks have more power and would like to continue to work with them but we feel vulnerable going across the country. Cannot rely on the truck. That’s 180k investment that you can’t rely on….
