2025 Ford Bronco Review
Overview

When Ford rebooted the Bronco name in 2021, it was perhaps one of the most hotly anticipated launches in recent memory. With the Bronco redesigned and refocused to compete head-on with the Jeep Wrangler, Ford threw out all the stops to make it a modern-day go-anywhere SUV. Available with two or four doors, a manual or automatic transmission, and some serious off-road hardware, the Bronco offers a configuration for almost any off-road enthusiast. For the 2025 Bronco, Ford is mostly standing pat. The most notable update is a new retro 1970s-inspired appearance package called Free Wheeling. It's available as a package on the Big Bend trim.
Edmunds spotlight: Off-roading at any speed
Casual buyers might picture off-roading as simply driving down a dusty trail, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. The Bronco offers enough options, be it through accessories or hardware, to tackle just about any kind of off-roading you can imagine. In its basic form, the Bronco's ground clearance and standard four-wheel drive will get you down most trails with ease. If you're into slower, more technical off-roading over larger rocks, the Bronco's Sasquatch package includes some seriously impressive and rugged off-road hardware. And if you like going as fast as possible through the dirt, the Bronco Raptor adds trick shocks, a more powerful engine, and recalibrated stability control to help you live out your desert-running dreams.
Competitors to consider
You can't mention the Bronco without mentioning the Jeep Wrangler. Both vehicles can go pretty much anywhere and offer pretty similar levels of off-road capability, from mild to wild. Toyota's 4Runner also deserves a look. It is getting quite long in the tooth, but when properly equipped, the Toyota offers nearly as much off-road prowess but it behaves far better, and is much quieter, on the open road. Read on below to find out what we like, dislike and love about the Bronco.
What’s it like to live with?
Edmunds bought a 2021 Ford Bronco First Edition to find out what the Bronco ownership experience is really like. Check out our experiences with our Ford Bronco First Edition here. While there have been a few changes since 2021, most of our observations still apply to the 2025 Bronco.
Which Bronco does Edmunds recommend?
We suggest going for the Big Bend trim. It's an entry-level trim, but it still offers a good amount of standard equipment. And you can opt for the Sasquatch or Mid trim packages if you want to add more capability or creature comforts.

2023 Ford Bronco Heritage Limited Edition 4dr SUV 4WD (2.7L 6cyl Turbo 10A)
I have owned the vehicle for a total of 3 months and it has been at the dealership 58 of those days. The parking sensors throw an alarm and flash a message on the dash and touchscreen that I’m about to hit something. This happens at every stop sign and red light. Service says there is nothing wrong with it claiming they have driven it and it doesn’t happen to them. On top of that the … transmission makes a horrible crunching sound, the doors sound like they’re about to fall off, road noise is terrible, and the hard top leaks when it rains. This is my 8th Ford vehicle to own and I have never had any issues with one. I don’t see ever buying another Ford just on how they have acted through this entire ordeal. It is a 23 outer banks 4 door

2023 Ford Bronco Outer Banks 4dr SUV 4WD w/Advanced 4x4 (2.3L 4cyl Turbo 10A)
Had my 2023 ford bronco for under 20 days and now in the shop for transfer case motor broke. Can believe a new vehicle with 3 miles off show room floor in the shop. Hopefully I can get a new vehicle because this is not a good look for ford. We were looking to take a trip up north to try the 4-wheel drive option, but now that's a wash. No real good news if this may be a issue due to the … time of parts. Will update with new information soon.
First off, I want to thank the sales personnel who helped us pick out our new 2023 Ford Bronco. Seating down and figuring out the process was what I expected from Beach ford, since I've bought all my vehicles from them. That's where everything went south, like really south with the bronco. After have the 2023 ford Bronco for 14 days only. The transfer case motor went out on a new bronco with off the showroom floor purchase. After two days for deliver and install. The vehicle had more codes that now we have to replace the entire assembly for the system. Again, a new off the showroom floor purchase with 3 miles. Now we are looking at a vehicle starting off with problem that I'm still having to pay for the purchase. Now talking to several personnel then on to the sales manager. It's really start looking further down south with the issues. Now, calling and visiting the dealership, it's the first-time hearing about the issue (Not really buying that). Now waiting on a call that management said will do in a couple of hours (phone is always on me). NO CALL! Now the repair on a new vehicle looks to be longer and my wife is without a second vehicle since we traded up to this vehicle. Now it really goes more south since the dealership doesn't want to pay extra for finding another vehicle but try to put us back in the 2023 ford Bronce that fail after 14 days. I've known and purchased vehicle in beach ford for over 20 years and now I feel like we are being shafted (using a better word than I feel is happening). I will make sure I ask the owners at one of the local functions that is attended, why this has happened.
Update: Now that Beach ford really not looking at the costumer and just their pockets. They are asking me if I will pay the mark up value of cost from getting from another dealer. That should be something a dealer is willing to do if selling a new vehicle that has issues and not pass on to the customer. Again, this is a new off the showroom floor purchase. No customer should have to go through this kind of problem. I believe Beach Ford is trying to protect it's image as number one dealer instead of supporting the customer. The customer is why you are number one dealer.

2023 Ford Bronco Outer Banks 2dr SUV 4WD (2.3L 4cyl Turbo 10A)
Ford knocked it out of the park with styling and pre-release hype.
Unfortunately, as is typical with Ford, they dropped the ball on execution.
I was one of the lucky ones when it comes to timing. First day reservation, order placed in Jan/2021, took delivery in Nov/2021. Mine was a 2-door Outer Banks with 4-cyl in Area 51. The Bronco I received was for a Big Bend with 6-cyl in … Antimatter Blue. But my biggest disappointment was yet to come...
The Bronco looks great and feels good to drive, and that's seemingly why so many owners are willing to forgive its numerous faults. Namely, I found several exterior fit and finish flaws. The audio system is inexcusably bad for any modern vehicle. Sync 4 is glitchy. Brakes are so spongy, I actually felt unsafe until I got used to them. The rear seat folding mechanism is difficult if you want the extra cargo room. The interior is excessively noisy and gives an overall feeling of below-average quality. (I am aware it's an offroad vehicle with removable top. I drove a Wrangler for years and the Bronco is worse) The noise-deadening headliner sheds fibres. The gas shock on the swing-gate feels like it's always fighting against you when trying to open. Rear seat leg room, and access to get to it, which I didn't expect to be great, still fell short of expectations.
The 4-cyl is more powerful and much smoother than expected, even though it sounds awful. Steering is great. Seats are *just* adequate.
Essentially, the Bronco is a good choice if your primary purpose is to look cool or if you need a good off-road vehicle. Otherwise, there are better choices.
24k Miles Year 1

2023 Ford Bronco Badlands 4dr SUV 4WD (2.3L 4cyl Turbo 7M)
2023 Badlands 4D, 2.7L. 24k miles year one and not a single issue. Lots of trails, snow and mud. Lots of highway miles of course. If was an adjustment going from a F150 Super Crew to this - but a hitch carrier makes a huge difference. I've added a lift, soft top liner, winch (use it a lot around the farm as well) and several other mods. It's fun / easy to work on and I honestly don't … have any complaints other than the Goodyears not giving much grip in mud or snow.
The technology in this thing is crazy. Especially the sway bar disconnect (vs old school, crawling under the front end).
We have a limited number of reviews for the 2025 Ford Bronco, so we've included reviews for other years of the Bronco since its last redesign.
