Ford of Kirkland

This dealer ran an ad over Mother's day weekend that prompted me to drive 40 minutes with the expectation of getting a good deal on a Focus. The ad had a new 09 Focus selling for 8975. In the same box as the picture of the car was a star with "Over 100 in stock". This led me to believe that they were selling at least 100 similarly equipped cars for the price. Imagine my surprise and frustration when I drove to Kirkland on Monday evening and was told that they had only one at that price and that it had been sold on Friday. Yes, there in the lower right corner of the ad was a partial vin #. Nowhere in the ad's fine print, though, was there anything saying "one only at this price" or "this stock # only". Should I have known there was only one? Maybe, but since I've always bought used cars before I wasn't prepared for this level of deception. I've since looked at other new car ads and see that most dealers make it much clearer. Lesson learned on my part but I still wonder how many people showed up for the teaser price and walked away swearing under their breath.
