BMW of Sterling
Dealership Sales Review
BMW of Sterling sold me a vehicle that should have never passed a Virginia safety inspection, violating Virginia Code § 46.2-1014.1, which requires all vehicles manufactured after 1986 to have a functioning third brake light. They provided a Virginia Safety Inspection Certificate for the vehicle, but when I took it for a Maryland inspection, it failed because the third brake light was missing—a clear violation of Virginia safety standards. This raises serious concerns about whether the Virginia inspection was negligently performed or outright falsified. When I brought this issue to their attention, they dismissed it, claiming they don’t guarantee vehicles will pass Maryland inspection. However, Virginia Code § 46.2-1529 makes it illegal for a dealer to sell a vehicle without ensuring it complies with Virginia safety laws or disclosing known defects. BMW of Sterling did neither. This dealership failed to meet their legal obligations, jeopardized customer safety, and showed zero accountability. If they can’t be trusted to follow basic laws, how can they be trusted at all? Avoid BMW of Sterling if you value honesty, transparency, and safety.
