Koons Arlington Toyota
Dealership Sales Review
The used car I purchased there had some "We Owe" items to be taken care of. Instead of allowing me to leave it there after purchase, I was forced to drive it away and bring it back later. When I brought it back, they kept it for a week and then informed it it was ready for pick up. I arrived to find that only two out of the five items had been completed (the two most simple and inexpensive). I also found trash and food crumbs in the passenger compartment, as well as used napkins in the cargo area. I had to bring the vehicle back for the remaining items (transfer case repair, alignment, body work/detailing). Now, a week later from dropping off for the second time, I am being told that the work has barely been started. The alignment was done (out in Sterling), the body work and detailing are being done as I write this, and the transfer case was overlooked because it was believed to have been taken care of during the first visit. It's hard for me to believe the part about the transfer case because I had been in constant email contact with them since I left the vehicle there, so they knew there was still a problem. To their defense, they did say the transfer case was inspected by an AAMCO station (out in Tyson's) during my first drop off and that no problems were found, and I could see the case had been washed of dirt build up. However, I immediately noticed and informed Koons of a freshly continuing leak from the transfer case. I suspect now that they may be trying to get out of doing any expensive repairs that may be found necessary after diagnosing the transfer case. They washed off the dirt and leaky evidence, told me it was fine, and sent me on my way. Note that I am not criticizing the service department because I was told they only installed the radio and did the state inspection (the only items that actually got done on time). Rather, all the trouble seems to be originating from the used car department and the way they have been handling these repairs. I guess it isn't uncommon for dealerships to farm out repair work to third parties, but so far none of the work has been documented so I can't verify what's been done. However, I can see what hasn't been done. There are alot of details to this story which I am leaving out for sake of brevity, but my whole experience with them (used cars) has been very shady. I have been very polite and patient, but I've gotten no satisfaction up to this point. Overall, the staff is subversive, illusive, and not at all forthcoming when you ask them about the status of things. Talk to three of them and get three different stories (provided they disclose any information at all).
