Lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram FIAT of Bryan College Station
Dealership Service Review
If I had only 1 interaction with Lithia CDJ, they would get 5 stars. However, I have had to see them 3 times in the last year. History: I was one of the lucky few with an Ecodiesel whose engine caught on fire. I was driving through Bryan and Lithia was the closest dealer, so they got the call. 3 months later, after a special investigation to determine causality and a delay while waiting on back-ordered parts, I got my truck back. 5 stars to Lithia for getting the work done. Fast forward 8 months; while driving home in Austin, I smell diesel, the truck slows so I roll into a parking lot. Smoke from the engine and I think, "Crap I'm catching on fire again". I get towed to my local CDJ dealer, get charged $99 for a diagnostic to tell me the high pressure fuel line is bent and not installed properly(what Iwas told, I never saw it). Minus 1 star to Lithia. I get hold of them and they come to Austin to get the truck(cudos), fix the problem and I drive to Bryan to pick it up. All is good again.... for about 5-6 months. Driving on Memorial Day weekend with my 4- person family to Freeport with the camper behind. We almost get to Angleton, smell diesel, check engine light comes on, we limp to Bucce's and park. Once again I'm thinking about the original problem and the recent fix(?). Luckily, the manager let's us park overnight. We deploy the camper, get minimal sleep due to the party goers back and forth most of the night. Morning comes and I call Lithia, again. Service manager is polite and as helpful as can be expected on a holiday weekend, no demos/loaners/rentals around while we sit in a parking lot trying to decide if we just abandon our plans and $$ already put down for the holiday. Meantime, I send an amateur video trying to help diagnose the issue. I'm thinking it's the same problem as the symptoms are the same. (I'm no mechanic) 3 hrs later, saints be praised, a loaner shows up in Bryan. The tow truck driver gets dispatched for a 2.5 hr trek, and goes to the wrong Bucce's(understandable as there are 2 locally). Now into the 6th+ hr waiting, the driver gets there. We swap trucks. It's a 6cyl, but can pull the trailer. It has no trailer brakes. No biggie as the camper is 5k lbs. We start to Freeport, get called, he forgot to get papers signed. We pull over, he finds us, sign the papers, get to the camp site. We enjoy what's left of the holiday. I get a call day later and am told the problem is a cross-over line that does not have a gasket/grommet where 1 is supposed to be. Minus another star to Lithia. They order the parts(it has the gasket/grommet) get it fixed(?) a couple more days later, and call me. To their credit they offer to deliver it to Austin, again, but it will be 4 days due to short staff(understandable). I drive Friday late afternoon to get it. So here we are. I give credit to the service manager, his staff and the tow truck driver(who remembered my truck). They, definitely, did a good job of customer service getting me taken care of, 3 times. BUT, as for the technician(s) that worked on my truck, BOO. Get it right the first time. Take responsibility for your mistakes(Lithia did+) and serve your customers well(they do). So, that's my story and why Lithia gets 3 vs 5 stars. I still like the service dept and hope, REALLY REALLY hope , we don't have to see each other any more.
