Dealership Sales Review
We wanted to test drive a car. After waiting in the hot sun for one salesman to get the key to the car, another salesman showed up with the key. We then had to drive the car up to the showroom, park, and go inside while the salesamn took a copy of my husband's driver's license (why this wasn't done first by the first salesman while we were in the showroom is beyond us). Besides asking for our name (which was clearly on the already-scanned license) and home phone #, the salesman wanted our cell #, work #, and e-mail address. When my husband replied that name & home phone was sufficient, the salesman said "well then if you buy a car here you won't get any of the coupons we send via email" While we did conitnue on the test drive, it was clear that the salesman was ticked and just going through the motion. We didn't care for the car so getting their coupons wasn't going to be an issue. We went to three other dealers the same day and only one even asked us for a copy of a driver's license and went on the test drive. The other two just handed over the keys and away we went, completely on our own without even giving our name, no less a copy of our driver's license. Granted we're in our early 60's and probably don't look like the typical grand theft auto perp, but we thought the attempt to gather all of the personal info by the Nissan salesman was completely unnecessary and his attitude even worse!
