Habberstad BMW
Dealership Service Review
Habberstad is a high-volume dealer, and their service department is very busy. They are short on space, but keep saying they have plans to rebuild the entire Huntington dealership using the blueprints for their recently opened, state-of-the-art dealership in Bay Shore; meanwhile, no ground has been broken yet. The service advisers are generally knowledgeable, but there is a tendency to try to sell additional services that are not entirely necessary; I assume this is typical of most dealerships. The funniest was "Nitro-fill," where they wanted to charge for filling all your tires with pure nitrogen instead of air the way aircraft tires are filled! All you need to make this extra expense unnecessary is an accurate gauge and 15 minutes a month to check and fill your tires. My two main complaints about Habberstad are the cramped waiting area (if you decide to wait for service), and the fact that loaners are actually mid-level rentals from Hertz, Avis, or Enterprise. Friends who have bought or leased BMWs from other dealers always get BMWs as loaners, which I think is a much better way to treat customers.
