Lithia Volkswagen of Reno
Dealership Sales Review
I recently bought a car from this dealership for my wife, and during our test drive, the entire infotainment system wouldn't work. Touch screen, buttons on the side, volume knob, all of it wouldn't work. The sales rep, Guy, ensured me he wouldn't let us but a car that the infotainment system wouldn't work. He took the car to the mechanics department and all they did was do a factory reset, and guy told us if the issues show up again to let him know and he'll get it fixed. Not even a full month later, the issues show up again, but worse now. The skip buttons on the steering wheel aren't working. I contact guy, let him know, and he has me bring the car in to have it looked at. After working a 10 hour shift in minden, I get off work and drive all the way up to the dealership in reno. When I arrive, a sales rep (not guy) comes out to take a look, and he sees that the top right side of the infotainment screen won't work. He goes to the mechanic department and after about 5 minutes he comes back out and says they won't even do a diagnosis because I didn't take the warranty. I corrected him, because I was told the dealership wouldn't offer me a warranty because the car had about 4,000 miles over the warranty policy. It's bot me declining a warranty, I was outright denied a warranty from the dealership. Now that's a weird thing too, because about 2 years prior to buying this car, I had bought a car of the same exact year and model from this dealership, with more mileage than the car we recently bought and denied a warranty on. This sales rep then told me that I could go to a car audio store and get an aftermarket system installed for about $300 or so. And if my credit is good enough, in a couple years I can just come trade in the car for something newer. Yes I could just go get an aftermarket system installed, and yes my credit is perfectly fine and I could trade in in a couple years, buts that's not the point. I bought a car, was told by Guy the sales rep they would make sure the infotainment system would be fixed (which he knew fully was malfunctioning before we bought it) and was completely lied to. The mechanic doesn't want to spend money on fixing the infotainment system? How much money did they make on this sale, not even including the fact that this is the second car I've gotten from thus dealership? The mechanics really canyon handle forking out a grand or so to fix this? I know that it's a dealership and I know that all dealerships are full of scoundrels, but this one left such a sour taste in my mouth that we're going to avoid all vw products for the rest of our lives, even from 3rd party sellers. Remember, make a customer happy and they'll go tell 10 people. Piss off a customer and they'll go tell 30 people.
