Worst Auto Service Experience EVER!
Written by transamadam on 07/26/2007

I took my Trans Am to Fairway Chevrolet on March 28 2007 because the transmission was sticking in 4th gear. The service consultant was never available to answer or return my phone calls. He refused to contact Ford Motor Company (whom I purchased my warranty through when I bought my car used from a Ford dealership) to collect my warranty information. I had to hunt the information down for him before he would begin work on my vehicle. After a month of hemming and hawing my car was finally ready for pickup. Fairway had my vehicle under the wrong name so they thought they had lost it. Eventually found it after 30 min. of idiocy. They had misdiagnosed the problem and the transmission was still sticking. Returned the car 5 minutes after I drove it off the lot. Demanded to see the service manager, but he was not at work. Contacted him that following Monday and relayed to him my story. He refused to assign me a new service consultant when I requested it. He stated that the current one had to clean up his own mess. Finally get some action out of the service consultant after this, but still very poor communication. Now I need a new transmission because they found metal shavings in the trans pan when they opened it up. He swears they weren't there the first time or they would have changed out the transmission the first time. Bologna. They never even opened up the transmission the first time. They just charged me for some bogus part and thought they could just send me on my merry way. Finally my car is ready (for real this time) on May 12th. I picked up the vehicle and requested they run it through the was (since it had been sitting out in the rain and dust for 1.5 months). The guy who runs it through fails to turn off the radio so that the power antenna will retract prior to entering the wash. Car comes out of the wash with its antenna bent at a 90 degree angle. They fix it that day and my car is ready (for really real this time). As I'm getting ready to leave I notice that they failed to put paper down over my fairly expensive custom floor mats, and subsequently got oil all over them. I get ready to complain and have them clean them before I go, but I'm so afraid that they'll somhow blow my car up in the process that I decide to cut my losses and get the heck out of there.
