Walser Nissan total RIPOFF
Written by daoshao on 08/02/2008

Took my very low mileage 06 Tacoma in for a trade and was lowballed an offer of half of what the car was worth and would not even get close to what KBB trade in value. Was told that my truck was not made for MN weather. Winter is only 3-4 months out of the year(sheesh this guy must've thought i was dumb). Went to other Burnsville Toyota dealership and they were willing to meet at KBB trade in value and now i am driving a new Toyota Camry SE. I will never ever go there again....even for a Nissan.

Everything is relative. I've worked with (and known) dealers who basically always find what the customer values and pump that up to look good while making money somewhere else. Case in point: The trade in value. It's very easy to pump up trade in value and then make money somewhere else in the deal, either through adjusting selling price, or if that's too obvious, by shaving points on loan or lease financing rates, higher doc or acquisition fees, etc. Trades are worth what trades are worth. You will almost always do better selling yourself, but hen you have all the hassle of doing so. Of course, if a dealer really thinks they are going to have trouble selling your car either on their own lot or at auction, then they're going to build that into their offer. When you deal with a one-price dealer like Walser, they can't wiggle on the price or financing so they have to value your trade more realistically. Of course I'm not intimately familiar with the specifics of your deal so I can't comment specifically, just to the general realities of the situation.
