Serra Buick GMC
Dealership Sales Review
I had a salesman that moved from Noonan Pontiac/GMC in Sterling Heights to Serra in Washington Twp. To give everyone a little history; I trusted this salesman greatly. I had bought my 2004 Pontiac Vibe from him back n Oct. 2003. He was great; at least that is what he appeared to be on the outside. My Pontiac deal was a simple one. He did tell me that my credit was "borderline" to get the Pontiac at the 0% for 5 years but he got in touch with GMAC and got me the 0%, (which I have found out was an outright lie). He did do me right with getting me all of the rebates, cash back and GM employee pricing that I had coming. I gave my old salesman a call back a few weeks ago when GM started offering the big rebates and 0% financing on the Sierra and Silverado '07 pickups. I told him what I wanted to look at and he had one sitting right out front when I pulled up. The one thing I did not like about it was that it had manual windows. He hemmed and hawed over it when I told him that I would like a Sierra 1500 Ext. Cab with the SLE1 package. This would give me what I wanted in the truck. I had a trade-in that he told me the used car manager was only willing to give me $3,000 for and that he felt that was too low. He claimed that he would try to get me $4,000 for it, which is way too low still. He then sat down with me and went to see that used car manager. He came back and said that he got him to agree to $4,000, (a complete freaking lie). He claimed that my credit was too bad to get the 0% financing but that he would try to get it approved at the 0%. This sort of reminded me of the last time I bought a car from him. I then told him the deal would go south if I did not get the 0%. In less than 24 hours I went from a 10.8% rate to 0% but I would have to buy Gap Insurance. I told him no. He then came back and said that I would not need the Gap Insurance but I could not buy anything more than his "souped up" WT truck. and I would have to slap down $2,000 plus my trade. I told him that I would rather have an SLE1 package and I had found several on the GM Family First website at other dealerships. I asked him if he could work a dealer swap for it. He hemmed and hawed and finally came up with one that he had in his stock. By this time I had gone to another dealership, got approved immediately at the 0% and even got a truck with more stuff on it. This blew his "your credit is crap" line out of the water! I took delivery of the truck, on my driveway. I have not bothered to call him back. I was going to drive the new truck up there and show him what I got and tell him he was lying and I knew it. I decided he is not even worth it. He actually ran this same scam on me when he was at Noonan but I did not check him. I trusted he was telling me the truth. He did not rip me off on the Vibe but then again, he had over 150 Vibes in stock at that time. It was not hard to find what I wanted and it was far less money than what a full-sized pickup costs. He would lie to me and tell me something was more money or there was something wrong with the financing and then he would "miraculously" come through for me. This is the "superhero" mentality that made him look like he was working for me and not the dealership. The truck I did buy came through an auto broker. Too bad we cannot review them here. She was great. She found me 15 trucks in the Metro-Detroit area that matched what I wanted. She handled everything! She even told me that my credit, although not perfect, was more than good enough to get the financing that I wanted. All I can say is AVOID SERRA GMC in Washington Twp., MI!
