BMW of Silver Spring
Dealership Sales Review
My name is Lavonnie Matthews, and on 3/24 I purchased a vehicle from this dealership. I am in love with the car purchase itself (2018 430i gran coupe) but very dissatisfied with what has happened since my purchase: 1) The car was initially purchased 3/24 and the registration for that updated vehicle wasn’t issued until 6/14, after having to make repeated follow ups via phone and e-mail. 2) On 4/22 I paid the dealership $321.89 as a separate transaction to process the property taxes for that vehicle on my behalf. The manager promised me in writing on 6/23 that the property taxes were paid. As of today (6/28) it still has not been completed. 3) Per the direct orders of the dealership, I switched my insurance from my old vehicle over to my new vehicle as soon as the new car was purchased. Following those instructions resulted in me getting a fine from my North Carolina DMV for “driving my old vehicle without insurance.” 4) On 6/9, less than three months after my purchase, I go to a different BMW dealership in my NC homestate to tend to a punctured front tire. It's being recommended that I also replace both the rear tires soon at the cost of $730.73. I inquired about it (I wasn't expecting brand new tires of course, but I also wasn't expecting to need to replace my rear ones so soon) and was told by BMW of Silver Spring that's acceptable because the tires passed MD state inspection. I do additional research on the matter and It turns out that the requirement for tires to pass is merely that the tires be at least 2/32”. BMW of Silver Spring was able to get me a refund for the DMV fine and the manager did promise a complimentary tire diagnostic when I return to MD so I can see exactly how soon my tires need to be replaced. He also did promise in writing to price match with the NC dealership that I took it to. I appreciate those efforts, but I'm still incredibly frustrated with this experience overall. As a matter of fact, I am still writing this lengthy review because: 1. Currently $321.89 of my money is unaccounted for, and has been since 4/22/2022. It is now 6/28/2022 2. I now have to plan to replace two tires somewhat soon, per the recommendation of BMW. This is now going to be a $730.73 expense that I was not given full disclosure about prior to purchasing the vehicle. At the very least, full disclosure would have been nice so that I could better plan accordingly. I escalated the issue to BMW corporate already and am waiting on follow-up from them. I am also heavily considering filing a consumer complaint with the Maryland Attorney General because I am deeply bothered by all this!
