Dewey Ford
Dealership Sales Review
I ordered a custom built vehicle from Ford online, who assigned me to Dewey Ford to complete the process as it was the closest dealership to me. Ordering process was straightforward, the sales associate had little to do with the process other than verify what I wanted and take my deposit. There was little communication for the 6 months while I waited for the vehicle to be built and shipped. Months later, I received notification that the vehicle was in and ready for pickup. The finance process was quick and easy, everything needing a signature was 100% digital, which is good on one hand, but very difficult to read exactly what is being signed on the other. One surprise in the paperwork was the optional theft protection and vehicle diagnosis for around $1300, which amounts to a GPS tracker called Plad Tech installed by Dewey Ford. Ironically, this device was installed BEFORE I ever picked up the vehicle and without my consent. The paperwork indicated this was not required for purchase, but was also a 'permanent installation' and cannot be removed. Google it for more information, but it seems the device is from any Ken Garff family of dealerships. It effectively gives the owner AND dealership the ability to track the vehicle's location at any time, and records details of every time the vehicle is driven. I'm not as much opposed to the technology as much as I am how it was all handled. Seemed very sneaky and deceptive. I likely would have purchased the device anyway, but seems shady how it was handled. There has also been zero dealership follow up post sale. Perhaps that is a thing of the past, but for previous vehicles I have purchased, the salesperson has typically followed up a week or two later just to make sure all is good. All in all, I love my new Ford vehicle, and will continue to buy the Ford brand, but will avoid Dewey at all costs. I'm sure some people like them, but I had a bad experience.
