Dealership Service Review

Dealership ok Service Decent Product POOR
Written by MyYamaha on 08/03/2017

So I have a 2016 Outback, my 3rd Outback, previous 2 I put cumulatively 1 million miles on. Current car has 70000 miles .... and it drinks oil and coolant an alarming rate. Last 4 oil changes (interval is 6000 miles) 5000 miles in, the low oil warning goes off, and the oil is either barely on the dipstick or not at all. About 3 months and maybe 15000 miles ago, I added 3/4 of a gallon of coolant(yes Subaru Blue). The car has been to Subaru of Kennesaw for a few things, 2 weeks ago, it was for the loss of oil (not the 1st time). I was told to bring the car back in 1200 miles to observe oil consumption. Unfortunately I drive a LOT and quite often out of state. I brought the car back 1 1/2 weeks and 2200 miles later. Oil was 1/2 way between full and add line, coolant reservoir was EMPTY and coolant was not visible to the top row of fins in the radiator. A couple of days later I was contacted and told the oil consumption was "NORMAL" and the loss of coolant was "EVAPORATION". I was told that Subaru allows the loss of 32 ounces every 3000 miles. That is 2 quarts of 5 every oil change and this is considered by Subaru to be NORMAL. It was noted on my paperwork when I picked the car up that the loss of coolant was because it has not been being topped off at regular oil changes....... LAST OIL CHANGE WAS 2 WEEKS PREVIOUS AT THAT DEALERSHIP !!!!!!! I will never buy another Subaru Oh and check out the videos on YouTube by others ..search Subaru Oil Consumption. What bothers me most I guess is the term Normal, perhaps they should say acceptable, because it sure isn't NORMAL, maybe in a Subaru it is. I own a 2016 Chevy and a 2013 Ford NEITHER uses oil. In fact in the last 5 years my wife and I have owned about 10 cars and thinking back NONE used oil and all were within a few years old, so NO it isn't NORMAL.
