Price, without a quote.

I had a warning light go off and scheduled a service. I was told I needed a battery which would come to around $350, which I thought was high, but I had no choice. About an hour into the service my service person came into the waiting room and said the mechanic recommended I also should have ??? Something about carbon cleaned, I gave her the ok without asking the cost. I ended up receiving a bill for $829.00. I would have declined having the extra work done if I was given a quote on how much it would cost me.
