Tustin Buick GMC
Dealership Sales Review
I'm writing this review because of the bad experience I had at Tustin Buick/GMC. Sorry for the length, but if you are considering a purchase from this dealer you should take the time to read it as it will probably save you time and money. My wife and I were interested in purchasing a new Acadia so we went to the closest dealer there was - Tustin Buick. It was myself, my wife, and two small children. We had already done research and new what we wanted. We explained to the salesman what we were interested in, but they did not have the color and model we wanted. We thanked the salesman for his time and told him we were not interested. As we were walking out to our car the manager came out and asked what the problem was. I said there is not a problem we just cannot find what we want. He explained that they were a family business and they would like a chance to get the car we were looking for. I am a fair person and as a business owner myself I did not mind giving someone a chance. They asked us to wait about thirty minutes to see if they could locate the particular model, color, etc. we were looking for. After about 45 minutes the manager came out, put his hand on my shoulder and said, "We found the car you want... let us put hands on it before we make any promises". So we waited longer and finally after a couple of hours they said their employee was at the other dealer and they were driving the car over. Great - lets start the paperwork so when it gets here we can go. We have now been at the dealer for several hours with the kids and they were starting to get hungry and ready to go. The finance guy comes over and starts to go over the numbers. At the time GMC was offering 0.0% financing until the end of February, which is one of the reasons we wanted to upgrade. He gave me a number that was 3.9% interest. I asked him about the 0% and he said, "Oh yeah". Right there I new I had to be on my guard and he immediatley changed the financing to 0%. I should have left then, but we had been there for so long I just wanted to get my wife the car, finish, and go. We still had not seen the car that they were supposedly bringing over. While we were going over the numbers the salesman and finance rep kept saying we are adding this option and that option. I was confused because the car that was on its way was supposed to have all of those options already. They then said, "Just bring the car next week and we will install them for you." I realized that they were not bringing any car over and they never were. They had been lying to us and planning to give us one of the cars on their lot and adding the options to it later. This was a huge surprise to me especially after the speech about being a family business and give us a chance plea. This was frustrating for several reasons: they lied directly to my face and made myself, my wife, and my two small children wait for almost six hours. They told us they were a family business and then didn't mind making my family wait there all night. I should have realized what was going on earlier, but the managers plea got to me and I wanted to give them a chance. Purchasing a car is not an easy thing for the average buyer. The dealer has the upper hand and the buyer goes with as much knowledge as possible, but still relies on a lot of what the dealer has to say. I recommend you do as much research as you can before going there. My review is only an account of what my experience was. We were mislead and lied to from the top down at Tustin Buick/GMC. There was not just one bad salesman they all kept us there under false pretenses. Although it is subjective I think this review is a good account of the type of business they do at Tustin Buick/GMC. In addition to my review I have warned my friends and family about going to Tustin Buick to do business.
