Test Driver Ratings & Comments

Acceleration commentsClean looking gauge pack, but the needles do not sweep smoothly. Shifter has a very positive feel. Gear changes are very smooth. Redline is tagged at 6,000 rpm, but cutoff comes at 6,350 rpm. Geared very tall; hits the 1/4 mile in 3rd. Traction control is highly intrusive. A feathered clutch start at 4,250 rpm yielded the best times. Can't hit 60 mph in second which costs time.
Braking commentsRequired a great amount of pedal effort. No ABS kickback. ABS is refined and applied very smoothly. In fact, it's one of the quietest systems we've ever tested. Straight line stability is perfect. Brakes feel strong for its class. Extremely consistent. Lound, whirring noise after vehicle comes to a complete stop. This is fairly typical, but the Cruiser's whirring is pretty refined.
Handling commentsVery quick steering. Good tire bite, despite the high amount of body roll. Steering wheel is a good version of the typical Chrysler 4 spoke design. The spoke placement allows for good leverage to be exerted and precise wheel control. Nice leather wrapping on wheel. High seating position affords great visibility. 3rd gear was perfect for keeping the engine in its sweet spot. Car slides quite predictably. Surprisingly well-balanced.
