Test Driver Ratings & Comments

Acceleration commentsThere are huge gains (about 0.6 sec) to be had with ESP off and brake torquing to 2,000 rpm. Power begins to wane in the upper-rpm range. Shifts are quick but smooth, even in Sport mode.
Braking ratingExcellent
Braking commentsThe X6 forgot it weighs 5,000 pounds. Brakes are amazingly powerful and fade-free. Pedal is rock hard, however. Also, in "normal" driving, jump-in is rather abrupt.
Handling ratingExcellent
Handling commentsFlat and controlled through transitions. Quick, intuitive steering, but sometimes it's difficult to locate the corners of the car. Stability control can't be turned completely off, but only intrudes when all is lost. When the X6 is traveling under 20 mph, the steering feels unnecessarily heavy.
