Your dissertation on "enhanced maintenance" is mind boggling! I think that the majority of knowledgable vehicle owners on this thread would agree that this dealer is proposing maintenance work that is added and unnecessary expense for the average vehicle. With your line of thinking, I would change the 100K spark plugs in my Avalon at 30K (like we did in the 1960s), and expect the engine to perform better and last ... Read More

I'm trying to remember exactly, but Toyota published production schedules in September that showed the 2010 being built only October 2009 thru February of 2010. That's a shortened production season by about 3-4 months so that the new 2011 model could begin in earnest starting in March. Avalons are currently in short supply. In addition, they have traditionally enjoyed a solid demand and been a good profit item for Toyota. Therefore, they are usually not discounted as much as other Toyota cars. In today's market you would do well if you get around 10% off MSRP. This might change later this year if Toyota introduces a completely new Avalon for 2010.

"This would be the same thing that Toyota did with the original Avalon back in the early/mid 90s and is also not too much different then Nissan does with the Altima/Maxima" My point exactly.... worked for them!
can't imagine Chevy without the Impala - it is supposedly #3 in sales if you include all the fleet/rental giveaways. The Malibu sits on a slightly LONGER wheelbase but is a physically smaller 'mid-size' car, of course. What you suggest makes some sense and it would seem simple enough to do. However, many of these 'financially strapped' automakers can't do what they perhaps really need or want to do- they can't ... Read More
>now has been stuck on one review from a female reviewer that obviously didn't know she was talking I dont' know why you think a female reviewer obviously didn't know (what) she was talking about link title"The next-generation of Toyota's premier sedan is scheduled to appear in 2005. The Camry's older, more genteel sibling will feature an updated profile based on a Camry platform. Expected to be larger and longer than ... Read More
Personally I think you were so narrow-minded on trying to prove the Avalon is using the previous-gen Camry platform you missed the most important piece of information: Though the current Camry platform served as the basis for the Avalon, Toyota says that the entire platform has been reworked to accommodate the longer, wider Avalon (1 in. taller, 1.5 in. wider and 5 in. longer than the current Camry.) Oh, by the ... Read More
"Toyota says that the all-new Avalon is the most-American vehicle they've produced to date, a claim that's difficult to dispute, as the car was styled in California, engineered in Michigan, and will be built in Kentucky. Speeding from final approval to production in a mere eighteen months, the Avalon boasts more power and an improved interior" This is from Automobile mag. I read the article you mentioned above, it is probably ... Read More
That's where you were mistaken. Not everyone wants a larger sedan, why the midsize sedan segment is bigger than the large sedan segment is because to many people, Camcordimas are just about the right size for their family hauling needs without being too oversized like cars in this group. By moving Accord upmarket that means the price has to increase as well. You know honest think when Accords are starting out ... Read More
What I was trying to say is, at around 250hp, torque steer in a FWD car is already uncontrollable so nevertheless at over 300hp. I've never driven the current Maxima before but I heard it's a torque steer monster. However, I did test drive the 286hp TL-S once and even with the torque steer reduce mechanism that it deploys, the affect is still very obvious. Sports sedan or not, with around ... Read More
With the horsepower war continue to go on it is just not practical to have a FWD, 300hp+ "sports sedan" that Nissan intended to make Maxima what it is. On the other hand, it's too tall of an order for Nissan to "out-Toyota" against Toyota (just ask Mazda and Nissan in the late 90s) so Maxmia being a luxury cruiser like the Avalon is just not going to work. Nissan should ... Read More
Well...Nissan needs a car to fill the void between Nissan and Infiniti in the full-size segment. I mean, you can choose between the 370Z or the G37, after that...there's a huge void between the Altima and the M. I mean...Toyota has the Avalon to the point where if one just wants the status of having a Lexus, but really likes what the Avalon has...you can get an ES. If the name ... Read More
I have a 2006 Avalon Ltd. - 12,500 miles and am very happy with it, but like to change cars every couple of years. I've been hoping that Toyota will redesign the Avalon in 2009, but just saw a note from AutoWeek Magazine (http://tinyurl.com/379dhk) that says "A redesign is scheduled for the 2011 model year, but Toyota may add an extra year to the vehicle cycle." Bugger! Looked at the Buick ... Read More
Given the current generation debuted in 2005, and Toyota's normal life cycle for its vehicle, I would say 2009/10 would be good bet to see a redesign.
