I'm currently leasing a 2007 Mercury Milan set to expire in 6 months. I am looking to upgrade to the 2010 Lincoln MKZ. I have 6 months of payments remaining of $307.34 for the Milan ($1844.04). Here is what I was quoted for a loaded MKZ with Nav Package, Ultimate Package, Technology Package, 17" Chrome Rims, Moonroof, Rapid Spec 103A: -They will pay my 6 remaining months on Milan - They ... Couldn't DO much worse in sales than the 2007 "New" Taurus. The 500 looked as good if not better than the Gillette-fronted Taurus. It is a good car relatively speaking. Ford marketing however as usual just SUCKED EGG on the 500. No one except for the 8 of us on this board has ever heard of the thing. 500/Montego out for FIVE years before a Lincoln version hits the street. Somebody ... Read More
I get great service from my Ford/Lincoln/Mercury dealer, plus you get a longer warranty. And you've obviously never compared a MKZ with a Milan - there are major differences.
There are no Lincoln dealers anymore AFAIK. All I knew about merged into Ford dealerships. So I do not see the point of buying Lincoln if you can buy very similar Mercury of Ford for much less and still get same level of service and stay in same lines. Before at least you could hope to get premium service from Lincoln dealership (and Mercury was kind of baby Lincoln even though ... Read More
FYI - the loaner car is totally up to the dealer. Lincoln provides a reimbursement to the dealer. Other Lincoln dealers provide Lincoln loaners - maybe you need a better dealer.
Sounds like you had fair warning something was wrong. Noise from any part of a late model car should be checked out, because strange noise is not normal, and could indicate the failure, or imminent failure, of a critical component--like a tire. Noise you hear in a very sound damped car like the Lincoln, should be even more of an indication that there is a problem.
We have loved the car, ride and the experience. This is a second car and does not see the high mileage as a work car. However, on recent lengthy trip during the holidays someone passed us on the right and pointed at our front passenger tire. I pulled over and the tire was fine, I pulled on the tire to make sure it was not loose. My wife reported a week ... Read More
I've had my 2007 MKZ for about two weeks now. During that time, four people at three different locations gave unsolicited positive comments about the car. One woman turned the car as she was walking away and told me it was a beautiful car. Another two guys were staring at it as I parked outside a coffee shop. When I came out, they were still looking at it as said that ... Read More

This is what I know besides a few new colors for 2008: June Sales: http://media.ford.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=26284 Lincoln's MKZ entry-level sedan returns for 2008 with a host of updates inside its charmingly retro-styled cabin. Back in 2007, the former Lincoln Zephyr changed its name only a year into its life cycle, and adopted a crisper look and a new V-6 powertrain. The result: a good-looking car, with a modernized, "wide-mouthed" version of the ... Read More
Hi hardhawk. The car that you described has a spread of around $2,800 between its full MSRP and its dealer invoice price. That puts the $1,800 discount that you were quoted at around $1,000 over invoice. If you are in an area that has a decent level of competition and you shop around I would not be surprised if you were able to beat this price by $500 or so. According ... Read More

Thanks pegasus17. I am familiar with the $386 per month advertised lease that you referenced in your post. I believe that the selling price that was used to arrive at this lease payment is around $950 over dealer invoice, which isn't bad. I really like where Lincoln is going with the MKZ, but they are not quite there yet. When I sit down and go over what the MKZ has to offer I get so close to pulling the trigger. I'm trying to choose between a 2007 TL and a 2007 Lincoln MKZ. One big plus for the MKZ is that through employee discount I can get it for $6000-7000 less than the TL. I like the exterior styling of both of them about equally. And on the MKZ, I like the longer warranty, that it uses regular gas, that it has a spacious back seat, and that it evokes retro ... Welcome sabrina39. I'm glad that you've learned a lot about leasing from this forum. Ford Credit's lease program for the Lincoln MKZ varies by term, mileage allowance, and region. If you provide me with the aforementioned information ... Read More
The rear end isn't bad, but it is a cop-out. Rather than giving the MKX its own hatch shape and tailights, Ford cheaped out and simply used the Edge styling and hatch, and then put a light bar across the rear to join the same shaped taillights of the Edge into one long taillight. It is an old badge engineering trick, and to me it looks tired. Especially given that no ... Read More

Dan, we've confirmed with Ford that the Aisin F21 6-speed automatic is the transmission used for 2007 MKZ. Our contact at Product Development advised the plan is to use the Aisin transmission through at least the 2008 model year. I was unable to find any reference in Lincoln's product information to the new 6F transmission being used on MKZ. here is the answer I got from the dealer Chief
Yes, there are there: http://www.lincoln.com/shoptools/config.asp?configAction=searchInventory&brandCo- de=Lincoln&vehicle=mkz&modelYear=2007
Hey BeamerMan. I don't think that there are any "pitfalls" to look out for when leasing through Ford Credit. Just negotiate as low a selling price as you can on the car that you are interested in and then make sure that the dealer that you are leasing it through is using a reasonable lease rate. I actually haven't seen Ford Credit's lease program for the 2007 Lincoln MKZ yet. It ... Read More

I currently own an 06 Zephyr. I am somewhat intrigued by the 07 MKZ's new engine. Since my round trip to and from work each day is 85 miles, the small fuel tank of 17.5 gals has actually been my only complaint with the car. It may have won accolades from some quarters, but anything Lincoln can do to stand out or lead will be even better. The current interior is a great improvement over what had been offered in American designs, but it still doesn't have the refinement of Audi or the coming S80 Volvo or even the 2007 ES350. As I was driving by the Lincoln store today, the line of Zephyrs at a ... Read More
I currently own a 2006 Zephyr. I'm very pleased with the car (a sleeker body would be nice). The 2007 has my interest. More powerful and refined engine, better fuel economy, and if you drive 500 miles a week to and from work like I do, the larger gas tank is quite helpful. Also, I regret not getting the cooled seats. However, in Lincoln's promo they state that the MKZ will ... Read More

Gregg. not for nothing and take this in the best way possible, you appear to have a fixation with the letter "T" when describing the 2007 Lincoln replacement name for the Zephyr, the "Mark Z" known as the MKZ :) Maybe I'm missing something?
The Zephyr wasn't an afterthought. But the 2006 model was definitely a rush job based on the demise of the LS. That is evidenced by the 2007 MKZ which is how the car was planned all along. Based on the number of Zephyr's sold already I'd say it's successful as a stop gap measure. I think Lincoln is moving fast - fast being a relative term. The problem is they keep ... Read More
Actually, the ES 350 is going to have a new six speed transmission too. So the Zephyr's acceleration should be about on par with the ES 350, and I'm sure it's slalom speed will be better because it is based on a sporty car, the Fusion. Lol, Lincoln MKZ win Motor Trend COTY for 2007? Not likely. I'm betting they're going to choose the Toyota Camry or the Honda Fit.
Also, how will the increased HP (not AWD, just increased HP) on the 2007 MKz affect MSRP of the MKz as compared to the 2006 Zephyr? The new 3.5L Duratec will improve mileage over the present engine by 7% which is very significant, particularly in view of the substantial increase in power: http://wardsautoworld.com/ar/auto_lincoln_zephyr_duratec_2/index.html
FWIW - The following is from Automotive News 4/24/06, the article requires subscription so I don't know any more than this.. Renamed Zephyr will get higher sticker Lincoln's entry-level model will top $30,000 Lincoln plans to raise the price of its entry-level sedan when it renames it the MKZ for the 2007 model year. And to follow up on the generous lease incentives... Our local dealers are advertising new Zephyrs for $25,399 before any dickering. This includes rebate, FMCC rebate, discount, etc. That's $4,300 right there for an allegedly hot product in short supply. Of course that discount pales in comparison to the TC discount: the MSRP is listed at $43,000 and the sale price as $28,995. MSRP joke, I'd say. With new Grand Marquis' ... Read More
My guess is they'll move Zephyr production to wherever they're making the MkX and Edge freeing up more production for Fusions/Milans and allowing more MkZ production. This makes sense since the MkX, Edge and MkZ will all be using the same drivetrain and same basic platform. 2006 is just a warm-up to give Lincoln dealers some product to sell. 2007 will be the yardstick as to how successful the MkZ will ... Other changes from the 2006 Zephyr to the 2007 MKZ include an updated "waterfall" grille - which shows seven "teeth" on either side of the central Lincoln emblem (the Zephyr has nine).
Based on Lincoln's experience with the rain sensing wipers in the LS (it had them from 2000 until halfway in either the 2003 or 2004 model year) I wouldn't expect to see them back anytime soon. Too many people either didn't like the way they worked or didn't understand how they worked and that drove up the number of user reported problems. FWIW that was one of my most favorite features ... To some degree, AK. But you cannot recycle major parts of the body in a "total redesign" even if the previous iteration was good. Times and fashions march on. I think AK may be right about what many car buyers consciously notice in terms of similarity. But scooter's point is right on.
