Infiniti QX4

  • Considering purchase of 2002 QX4

    Written by: sboisvert1 on Sep 11, 2010 3:11:03 PM

I own a 1998 Infiniti I30 and have loved it for the past 8 years. (bought it in 2002) It's now time to hand it down to my teenager and get myself a "new" vehicle. I found a 2002 QX4 with 133K on it. Dealer has agreed to sell for $7500. It has a few minor blemishes on the exterior, but it drives great and everything works. My concern is the ... Read More

Hey, You don't need a repair manual. Do you need to just replace the antenna mast or the whole unit? I had to replace my mast a few years ago and bought from these guys - http://antennamastsrus.com/Infiniti/QX4/Infiniti%20QX4%201997-2003.htm Their site also provides links with instructions on how to do the replacement. It was pretty easy. I know they also sell complete units but have no experience with those. Good luck!

  • JD Powers Survey

J.D. Powers sent us a survey regarding our ownership experience of the 2003 QX4 which we bought new. When we got to the "Problems" section, we skipped all the pages because we have no problems except for a door lining that had loosened. When I think about all the things that could be wrong, I have to give credit to Infiniti for manufacturing a trouble-free vehicle that's now three years old. ... Read More

Looking at 2-3 year old SUV's and have the 2003 QX4 on my list. Am comparing it to Acura MDX and Highlander for styling and appearance (and I know the QX will feel more like a truck). I have a Nissan Maxima w/ 234k miles, so i know about the reliability/dependability. With the QX4 out of production, any issues regarding service, parts, etc.? I would imagine not, given the Infiniti name ... Read More

  • 2003 QX4 Problem (Suggestions)

Written by: guffster on Jul 30, 2004 6:09:47 PM

I have a fairly new 2003 QX4 with about 8,000 miles. I am unhappy with an average of around 13 miles per gallon on the highway. I repeat, the highway. I don't drag race and am always around the speed limit. I also expressed a problem to my Infiniti dealer that when I put the vehicle in park and turn off the ignition there is a slight "lunge" forward with the ... Read More

I bought a used 2001 QX4 from my local infiniti dealer back in January and paid $24K. Loaded with everything except navigation and had 41600 miles. Mint condition inside and out, was turned in from a lease deal. Dealer certified vehicle and warranty still good till Nov 04. I agree with jack44 that is alot of miles for an 01, I'd check to see if the warranty has expired. Serviced should ... Read More

  • What can I do if I was overcharged for a service?

Written by: markbean on Aug 6, 2004 8:34:15 AM

My wife recently took her 2003 QX4 in for its scheduled 30K mile maintenance. While the car was in the shop, the dealer called to report that the front brakes should be replaced. They added that she would save $200 and only pay $250 is she did this service now. While I don’t believe that the brakes needed replacement, this is not my main compliant. The real problem is that the ... Read More

I currently have a 2003 QX4 and had the 2001 QX4 prior to that. While I can't speak to the Pathfinder, I can tell you that the QX4 is the best car I've ever owned. The main differences that I see between the 2 are the cosmetic designs, the service that Infiniti offers versus Nissan, the prestige that comes with driving an Infiniti, and the resale value. You didn't indicate the ... Read More

Since 2003 is the last year for the QX4, i would think any Infiniti dealer will give you a GREAT deal. When i bought my QX4 there was a $6000 discount and 3.9% fin. and that was a couple a months ago. The dealers are really pushing the QX4 to make room for it's replacement.

I know their discounted but I'm not sure how much they are willing to give and dont want to make them angry from the getgo?? One more important question for any owners of the 2002 or 2003 Qx4's. • QX4 Differences from Pathfinder

I just traded a 2001 Pathfinder for a 2003 QX4. The exterior differences are obvious. Inside you have better leather, better carpet, real wood, heated rear seats, etc. The QX4 is quieter inside and just much nicer. The best part is the Infiniti service. Loaner cars, free car wash, power train warranty until 70k and bumper to bumper to 60k.With Infiniti trying to get rid of them the price was about ... Read More

reb12 -- Where did you hear the QX4 is going.....? Everything I've heard and read about the QX4 is that it is not being discontinued. It will be given a makeover for 2004, much like its sister the Pathfinder. Much bigger and probably a 7-seater to compete with the MDX, the new 4Runner, etc. The new model in the website for the SUV is the FX45, which will debuting about Jan ... Read More

marsha7...Yes, I too would have preferred 4 wheel disk brakes since I think it achieves better breaking results in most vehicles. The reason why our QX4's have drum brakes at the rear wheels is because the vehicle is based off of Nissan's truck series. It's basically an old truck design that works very well...and you know what they say..."if it aint broke, don't fix it". Pickups and SUV's were the last ... Read More

I currently have a 2001 infiniti g-20, however with a new career in sales Im looking at the qx4, however if this is the last year for the SUV Im skeptical....any comments?

Good luck with your QX4 the '01s are sweet vehicles. As I said my Jeep has been a honey, with no problems. The QuadraDrive has been a blast especially in last years snow and also off-road. The problems reported on these forums, I have not seen (yet). Your new QX$ will probably be reliable, after all it's an Infinity. When my lease expires in two years, I look forward to giving ...
