For some unknown reason my six port electric fuel pump is not receiving power. I replaced the electronic fuel pump, ECU computer and checked all fuses and relays, so far no luck! I tried looking ... I would get the 7.3 in a 1999, best mpg and the 6.0 is crap. I have a 1999 F-350 crewcab 4x4 and I average 20-22 on the highway and 16-17 in town, without a chip. 1999 has only had one recall and is a hell of smother the a 1997 and down.

I have a 1997 Ford F-250. Powerstroke 7.3 automatic. A year ago I had the transmission rebuilt. I think I got ripped of in that job. 5 months ago the throttle sensor had to be replaced. 3 months ago the cam sensor had to be replaced. Last week the truck started dying. It would normally crank back up but when you put it in gear it would die (forward or reverse). ... Read More

Not familiar with older 7.3L diesel, is the fan shaft mounted on the water pump? I had thought it was mounted on a separate thermostatic clutch - and run by the same belt as the water pump. Considering the symptoms - fan very loose and metal shavings all over the engine, are you sure that the fan wasn't hitting something as it spun? Get an inspection mirror and start looking around ... Started the truck up the morning and heard a horrible clanking noise from under the hood. Immediately turned it off and opened up the hood to find the engine covered in fine metal shavings. Could not visible see where shavings could have come from. Mechanic friend came over and started the truck up for him and he was able to see that the shavings were coming from. had wiggled the fan ... Read More

I have a 1997 Ford F250 Diesel and it also surges ... I am thinking it may be a secondary fuel filter on the fuel line, but no one has been able to tell me is there is one or not. Did you ever get a response on this? Thanks

Maybe someone here with F-250 knowledge can help me out. My friend recently bought a used F-250 from a local used car dealer.I think it's a 1997. The wierd thing is, it has the rounded body style like the F-150. I've yet to see another one that looks that way. I even looked at all the F-250's on E-bay and they all have the more squared off shape. Did someone switch ... Read More

I've been monitoring this board and other for several years now. I've not heard of any consistant problem with 5.4L starter motors. If you go to a parts counter and tell them you have a Ford F150. It's no big secret that the 2 main motors are the 4.6L and 5.4L. The fact that the F150 is the best selling vehicle in the USA, and has been for quite some time, ... Read More
