  I have a 2004 Rainier and it occasionally shudders quite badly when turning sharply. I have no idea what causes it, but I have heard it can be related to incorrect tire pressures. Mine seems to happen at low speeds, but maybe that's because no-one makes really sharp turns at higher speeds. Andy

  My 2006 Rainier suddenly stopped making sharp turns this weekend. I can't pull into parking spaces left or right. The steering is fine but it feels like the truck as a whole won't move. I can hear the wheels skidding when I turn sometimes. Is this the same as the other problem listed regarding the transfer case?

  If you are still under warranty, any GM Dealer will take care of it for free. It is a common problem for GMC Envoy/Chevy Trailblazer/Buick Rainier, etc. C.B.

  I had a similar problem with my 2006 Rainier, but it was easily repaired with the replacement of relay. In that I have had experience with full-time four wheel drive, Irecognized that the problem was that the all-wheel drive was apparently locked into 4-wheel drive. Sharp turns and attempting to turn while in reverse on dry pavement, while in 4-wheel drive, results in that which you explain. In my case, the ... Read More

  My 2006 does the same thing as did my 2003 Trailblazer. In reading the owners manual it's working as designed. If it sits for less than 4 hours and the temperature increases by less than 20 degrees you have to run it at a steady speed for a few miles/minutes for it to recognize that the increase in temperature at the sensor is real and not caused by the sun shining ...   Are 4.2L 6cyl. engines identical on these SUV's?
