- Badging on the car appears to indicate the 2015 Genesis will continue with Hyundai's 3.8-liter V6 as one of its engine options.
SANTA MONICA, California — A new-generation version of the Hyundai Genesis luxury sedan is just around the corner, but prior to a potential unveiling at next week's 2013 Los Angeles auto show, spy photographers caught a full 360-degree lensful of an undisguised version during a video shoot.
The 2015 Genesis seen here displays the current fashion for expansive grille openings taken to the extreme. The car's flanks are notable for a deep scallop in the front fenders and a pronounced body side character line running from the headlight through a inset at the rear bumper.
Although precise dimensions are difficult to estimate, it appears the 2015 Genesis may be longer than the current-generation sedan and the roof line could be lower. The Genesis seen here appears to be fully production-badged with a Genesis G380 HTRAC, apparently indicating use of Hyundai's 3.8-liter V6 coupled to the company's newly developed, electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system. The current Genesis sedan also offers a 5-liter V8 but is sold strictly in rear-wheel-drive configuration.
Edmunds says: Now that the Equus is here to serve as the large luxury flagship, it appears Hyundai intends for the Genesis to assume a sportier focus.
